As for the surgery, I could only say this much. Dr. Black Jack will be attempting to cure Ken of the cancer that resulted from the use of the Hypershoot, but he will discover something about the Eagle because of it. It is this "something" that will bind the events in the story together.

Again, thank you so much for that information! Just one last question. Sorry for this, but the screencaps I've seen are so tiny, I couldn't see the image all that well.
Just how does Sosai Z look like? Was he that antimatter asteroid? So the part that Ken stabbed with his sword was his brain?
Sorry for asking so many questions. I'm the type who's very meticulous with detail when it comes to writing fics.

He is over at Gatchaman Fanfic Archives and has written a fair number of stories
I guess if you have not read any of his stories then you can not answer that question. But he sounds like the same Dr. - works on hard or near impossible cases.

EDIT: Just checked. Yep, it's that Dr. Black Jack. But...my pardons to Daniel Rush...I'll do Black Jack better than he did in his story. And I would have to thank my former background as a doctor for this.
Anyway, just in case you're curious, here's a pic for your reference. This was made by my artist friend Laura Zel Carboni, who's a huge Black Jack fan. The guy on the left is Black Jack. The silver-haired guy on the right is Dr. Kiriko. In the story I'm doing, Black Jack will be the one protecting Ken. Dr. Kiriko, who in Osamu Tezuka's anime/stories is a former Vietnam War vet doctor with a knowledge in biological weapons, will be the new Chief Scientist of the ISO and Joe's ally.

The story I was thinking of is called 'Leap of Faith" and you get a fair description of Black Jack right in the first chapter, but he appears through out the 19 chapter story healing Mark from a bullet to the spine.

As for what Governor Z looks like, it all depends on what part of him you're looking at. At his most basic, Z is nothing more than a single small piece of Governor X, the only part that survived X's destruction in "Gatchaman II" #52. That piece is what Ken sliced in two at the end of the series, and it looks like this:
When people usually see Z, what they see is the gigantic outer shell that he built around himself, looking much like a metal pyramid. It looks like this:
When Z brought Egobossler inside his shell to talk with him directly, Z appeared as a large, shadowy shape with lights flashing around him. This shape towered over Egobossler, and looked like this:
Z is not the anti-matter asteroid. The asteroid is something that Z brought to Earth in order to destroy the planet.

Thank you very much for that *wealth* of information, James! Especially the huge screencaps. For someone who had to squint through thumbnails, these were very, very helpful!! Although I must admit the last pic scared the s**t out of me.
Sorry, Amy, Ego will definitely NOT retain his original appearance, but will revert back to it in the end. And that's all I can say.
Apologies for the short reply. I'm being crowded around by doctors in the room that has been set up as a cybercafe. I would much rather do something else than attend this convention actually.

No, Z didn't cause him to become blue-skinned. He had the blue skin and the white hair following the surgery he had done to change his face to look like that of his half brother. Since his half brother had brown hair and normal skin color, exactly why he did this is unknown.
