It's gonna be sunny at first but then raining for the rest of the day and stops in the evening but I don't believe the weather people anyway.

My mum loves Corny......Coronation Street and I can't phone her during the programme and if we are talking on the phone, then she says bye and then puts it down. I feel sorry for my dad who has to sit there and watch it.

Well it has stopped here. The sun is shining, although the wind is still blowing so it is a little clilly on the cheeks while shoveling.

I have two large deep drifts across the drive before I get to the end where the plow pushed a huge amount in. I have shoveled 1/3 of the drive (finsihed the first drift) and decided to come in for a break.

Take it easy as they say. Don't want to strain myself. I will go out again in a bit and do some more work. I can always go shopping and run the dog tomorrow.

I don't think so ebony. I love it...DH watches it religiously! Sometimes it drags a bit and then you have Tracy knocking off that womanizing piece of trash Charlie and ends up going to jail, and then the fire where I though poor baby Freddie dies, and then Paul & Carla fighting because she found hotel reciepts and he ordered an escourt which turned out to be Leann who is seeing his brother Liam. Paul then stuffs Leann into the boot of his car and gets into an accident from which he dies and Carla tells Liam that Leann is the prostitute and Paul was her #1 customer....so yeah that's about where we are...

I know you folks in the UK are 6 months ahead of us in Canada. It's the only soap I watch. the american soaps are just garbage in my opinion, so far fetched and ridiculous. I like Corrie because it's about everyday people.

Met my DH is same way as your mum when the show comes on..."Shut-up! It's Corrie-time!" LOL

I agree, with soaps..... Puke1....As a kid, I did watch Neighbours and Home & away but 3 years at college taught me that there's more to life than to soaps.....called Pint.

I did try to watch a soap called Elerado which was made by the same people who brought you Eastenders but couldn't stand it.

Once I went to Granda studios and walked around the Cornie Street set. It was damm smaller than on TV and I walked around the back of the tiny gardens (And I do mean tiny). I even drank in THE Rover's Return (real pub but small.

Pity that I didn't have my camera then, otherwise I could have taken photos for my mum.

Now, I can watch 4 very good soaps, Gatchaman, BOTP, Battlestar Galactica and Doctor Who/Torchwood.

Has your mum been to the set? If not that sounds like a great outing for her...or a prezzie..

Gawd - the snowstorm of 2008!

Flash and I had his staff party that night. We braved it to drive through the snow to get there.

Damn.

Damn damn double dang.

We have a big truck (F-150 King Ranch Supercrew - 5.4lt V8 Triton engine 300 horses .... drool drool ... I love my truck) and even she had problems with it. A couple of times as we turned corners and what-not, we ended up driving sideways ... Fortunately she corrects really easy.

Lawrence Ave West was HELL. The snow on the road was at least 15 cms deep ... Visibility was so awful that we couldn't see even the lights of vehicles ahead of us.

A GOD DAMNED ASSHOLE TTC DRIVER tried to muscle us off the road - I mean, sure you have the right of was when pulling out of the busbay, but when our truck is more than half-the-fucking-way past you, you don't just fucking pull out! You can't not see us, we're a giant freaking TRUCK! We had to swerve into the oncoming lane!

I hate TTC drivers ... Them and school bus drivers are the worst drivers on the road - oh, and those cars that have the "baby on board" signs on their cars tend to drive like assholed ...

But I digress.

So after a treacherous drive to the golf-course, (Rosedale Golf Club for those in Toronto), we hung out, ate some wickedly yummy - and fattening - food, and trudged off to pick up the lil'bit from daycare. (This is at about 10pm)

I kid you not - the 401 was blanketed in snow.

If you live in or near Toronto, you'd be familiar with the 401 ... Biggest highway in the country.

So, we're at the widest point (16 lanes wide in total) and the collectors was down to 1.5 lanes. I shit you not. There was no way to determine where the lane dividers were, so you just made the rules up as you went. Cars immediately fell in behind us (we have a 4,000lb vehicle) so they could drive in our tracks ... An asshole in a VW then used the shoulder to get by us (pass on the left, not the right, dickweed), which saw us almost careen into the front end of a pretty Lexus ...

Once we hit Jane street - clear. Absolutely clear.

We hit our street - and WHAM! Skid to a stop because some asshole felt the need to stop in the middle of the road to REVERSE onto Jane street rather than travel down a one-way street ...

Dammit. We lost momentum. We hit the corner, and lost traction. It took a good 45 seconds of rocking back and forward to find tarmac to get going.

But oh, the sound of that engine roaring .... purr purr

Then the driveway ... got stuck there too ...

I hate snow.... I especially hate driving in it ...

But, YAY, good weather coming!!!!

SJ

Blimey and double blimey. I hate car and van drivers myself SJ. I hope you are in a nice warm room with hot coco to keep you warm from the evil bad Galactor snow.

I hate the ucking weather over hear. Last week, it's been, cold, dry, cold wet, cold dry, cold wet, etc. Can't fcking it's mind up. Yesterday and today, it's been cold, dry, windy, cold, wet, windy, cold, dry, windy, etc. It's peeing me off.

I reckon, we going to have fucing rain, cold and wind this spring and summer and perfect weather in the autunm and winter. AAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHHH.

Sounds like SJ had a bad day on Friday night or Saturday.

Don't worry Farmers almanac says only two more storms for MARCH and then we have the April one. Lets hope it is not a LONG winter and we get the Early May storm as well.

Dog <-------- Cloud runs before SJ reads this and The Swan spends her wrath on the Owl.

No more storms, young lady ... Don't you tempt fate by even entertaining the notion of more white stuff.

You know, as long as this week shapes up to be what they promise, I'll be happy. I really am not particularly bothered by the cold - Hell, I live in Canada - because it just makes me appreciate Summer so much more!

But, dang, have you seen the SIZE of the snowbanks around the place?! Shit, you can't see cars in driveways ... it makes driving down the side streets a freaking extreme sporting event!!

I agree with you SJ. I am sick and tired of the snow. That last storm took the winter fun out of me.

I am jsut hoping the last two storms of March are little, itty bitty storms that bring a cm or so of snow. That is after the rain we are supposed to get at the end of the weeks comes along and melts most of these snow banks.

Have you seen the parking lots in malls? Half of the lots are taken up bug huge friggin snow mounds. It is a good think half the population of Ontario has left the country this week. I would find no space to park to do MY shopping.

Gawd CD, you should see our parking lot - aside from being a skating rink, it is getting smaller and smaller every week!

Malls are insane, but what can they do? There is just too much snow.

On Black Creek, on my way home, is one of the dumping areas for the snow the city are trying to remove - I kid you not, it is a damn mountain in there - with all the lights and trucks and graders and front-loaders, it looks like it is a mining operation. They're going 24/7!

I estimate by August the snow might melt ... Tongue

I suspect in August we will wish there WAS snow to cool us from all the heat and humidity.

Or at least to cool me from all the humidity. (I hate humidity, I can take the heat but not the humidity.) Perhaps you like the humidity being from Australia. Do they have humidity there?

BTW SJ

I should say welcome back.
It is nice to see you around again. You have been missed.

I agree with CD, SJ you were missed!Huggles

As for the snow here in the Hammer...they're starting to organize people to park everyone on one side of the street so they can get the big snow blowers and dump trucks in. Apparently they have 4 or 5 very large snow dumping sites on the mountain.

They're getting strict about fines for not cleaning the sidewalks in front of your house something like $100...and it's a $300 fine if you are caught shoveling the snow back out into the street after the plow has gone by. They are also requesting that residents clear storm sewer grates and any snow around fire hydrants.

I was listening to the radio this morning in the car and apparently like "road rage" there have been incidents of "snow rage". Apparently somewhere in Quebec one man pulled a toy gun on someone over a dispute for a parking spot and another man pulled a real shotgun on his neighbour for using his snowblower and blowing the snow...(get this)...not on his drive way or anything that he would need to remove, (that would be grounds for a little verbal WTF dude?!! IMO) but on his front lawn! I guess he felt this was a breach of etiquette somehow!

I'm glad I don't have neighbours like that! Our street pitches in and helps everyone. We have alot of elderly peeps who physically can't do it. And the guy across the street seems to enjoy playing with his toy and will snowblow up and down the street.

We have the same problem at work...but at least what we have left of the parking lots are being salted properly.

Awwww, shucks.... Thanks for the WB, guys - it's nice to be back home!

Can't believe I woke up to snow again this morning!

Can't believe, again, that people are so lazy that they can't brush 1cm of snow off their cars ... Gee, there were drivers so lazy that they were driving with only the spot their windshield wipers cleaned was free of snow!

Dudes, I have a gigantic freaking truck - I climbed onto the damn bed to clear snow off the roof! So, yeah ... Lots of washer fluid was used on the short trek to work this morning!

Surprisingly, though, the roads were excellent ... Aside from the Altima driver who felt the need to submarine the truck to get into the turning lane - never mind the fact that our indicator was flashing and we were merging in...

All in a hurry to get to Tim Hortons ... sigh...

So ... yeah ...

And then ... Guffaw and laugh ... I get to work to the security alarm blazing loud enough for a deaf man to hear it.

I had to call our President at 7:30am to ask him for the security code.

:snicker: So the parking lot is unplowed and unsalted ... And the snow is slushy ... I have ruined my Charles Davids with walking through three inches of salty slushy water to get to the door ... my feet are cold ...

Oh Bring it on, Toronto! You keep giving us this snow. Sure, I really, really want to shovel my driveway another 9 times this Winter!

Good note though - am heading to Yorkdale at lunch to hit Old Navy! Woohoo!!

Where's my credit card?!

You can have our wind to help you move the snow if you want. I was nearly flew at least twice and when I got home, a fence panel between me and my neighbour has gone missing and another panel on their fence with another neighbour has also gon AWOL.

And talking about my home, has anybody seen it flying over your heads by any chance? flying

I have just heard that the forecast is going to be snow, hail, rain and more snow, in other words Arctic contitions.

So SJ, you won't be the only buried in snow. I wonder if that bionic St Bernard will be availlable.
