It's probably too late, unless their first pick refuses, in which case a professional "thanks for your consideration, and keep me in mind should a similar position become available" will leave a good feeling all around.

Often, they'll choose based on the resumes, or friend, or whatever, even before the interviews, but still have to do the interviews for policy reasons.

Shame, really, but that's how it works. I once went through two rounds of interviews, was told "no thanks", and then saw the same job posted, typo for typo, on the boards a week later.
