I would agree, but we don't have rain ALL winter. It rains for a week and then no rain for a couple of weeks. The difference is that it NEVER rains from April through October. So in comparison it seems like it rains a LOT in the winter.

I don't mind the look of the snow. What I hate is the shoveling and the salt slush (that corrodes my car and ruins my boots) and scraping ice from my windshield. UGH!

And I used to hate going to the mall or the movies in wintertime. You have a heavy coat and boots and when you get there you're boiling hot. I also remembering carrying my shoes to work in a little baggie... yuck.

I keep my shoes at work, so I do not have to carry them.

But I do agree with you about the salt on the boots and cars (although cities are trying to cut back on the amount of salt they spread and are mixing in more sand) and the shoveling. That Shoveling is the worst part of winter especially when 4- 6 inches fall in a day. 1 inch or less I can handle you give just a quick shove to the side but when you get more snow then you have to lift it. After all the shoveling I have done the last 5 days, I have sore muscles in my back and shoulders and for some reason in my forearms. (Not sure what I did to get sore forearms)

As for coats in the malls and theaters. I tend to leave it in the cat and make a dash for the nearest entrance. Of course you come out to a cold car and coat, but you quickly warm up once the heat is turned on in the car.

Kimi, did you have the thunder snow storms where you were. I was shocked when the night sky was light up by several flashes of lightning and then a roll of thunder cracked. Meanwhile the snow was still falling.

I too hope no one on these boards were affected by the tornadoes in the USA.

CD...DH said something about it...but I was dealing with the migraine..flashing lights were being avoided..so blinds were drawn and I tried to be comatose...LOL

At one point I thought I heard thunder but for all I know it could have been the animals running up & down the stairs or the snow plows outside, or my stomach rumbling.Goodnight

Something must be going on world wide because the amount of rain and electrical storms we have had in the past few weeks is the most we have had in ten years in such a short period of time, and the storms have been vicious. Especially through my area.

Your all getting bad snow storms and rain...I think I'd have a hard time if it was wet all the time throughout winter like it would be with snow...I guess its something you get used to...

Ebony...the weather is changing too rapidly from one extreme to another. It's going from sunny and on plus side temperature wise one day...the next it's negative double digits, extreme winds, snow, freezing rain, blizzard...then back up in temperature....

Another mega-drop in temperature and more snow on the way...

It's falling softly right now...very pretty snow-globe like...

Kimi, the mega drop in temp was yesterday, with feel like temps in the -30's c. At least today we have temps in the teens.
But you are right the snow globe effect has lasted all afternoon, so it is slowly accumulating.

A little snow here, but nothing important. Temperature's raising. Slow though, but it's getting warmer!

No wonder you have migraines and everyone is getting sick, if we have weather patterns that change dramatically I end up with a cold or the flu.

25F (about 4C) here currently. It was snowing earlier (finally!) but it sounds like we have either freezing rain or sleet at the moment. So looking forward to chipping the ice off my car tomorrow morning.... Rolleyes

But the snow/sleet we have here is the same storm Kimi and CD are getting. They're just fortunate enough to be getting the while stuff from it. (Please stop yelling, Kimi! I agree with CD. If it's gonna be cold, it might as well snow!)
Smile

The temp's supposed to go up to 50F (10C) tomorrow though, so all the ice will melt away. 25F today, 50F tomorrow - crazy....

We WERE having a very mild winter throughout most of December, January, and early February... but we got bitchslapped just back into reality by cold temps and snow that doesn't appear to be going anywhere for a long while.

I lucked out last night going to work...

Got to drive behind the platoon of snow ploughs and salters on the hwy...(there was at least Cool...but I was still 25 minutes late because they were only moving at about 40 km/h...

Sorry Hino I didn't realize I was yelling....I thought I was bitching and/or whining...LOL Blushing

I agree I'd rather have snow than freezing rain...though the trees look nice with that too.

ITA, freezing rain SUCKS!!!!!!

Especially scraping the ice off of your windshield in freezing rain and having it stick to your hair to make your head one massive icicle... ugh...

Very mild weather here so far, some rain. Typical gray winter in DK. But last week we had a day of snow and freezing rain. There was so much ice everywhere, that it was impossible to drive. People were leaving their cars on the roads. Total chaos.
Last Sunday, 8C and sun. Lovely

Well another cold snap here...-15 and I had a blonde moment while taking the garbage & recyclables out this morning.

I left the gloves in the house, swept the snow off the lid of the bin with my bare hand, and proceeded to open the gate....

Now what happens when wet skin meets cold metal? Needless to say I feel stupid and my thumb really hurts! Doh2

Both December, January and February have been absoutly freezing. I had to have my heating on at least 24 hours 7 days a week over the December and January. Sometimes I had to keep my heating on overnight this month.

All I need is a Swan to keep me nice and warm at night.

Um.... let me get this straight. You need a brain, because you just burned your ass? Is THAT where you keep your brain? Most men keep it on the front side of that region, or so I've heard.... Wink
