I hope the roughen Joes image up a bit, or they haven't read Asakura's character well.(I have not seen the OVA's can't comment there.)

I don't smoke(don't like it much, the smell etc) but thats six to one what ever.
These are just visual mock ups anyway.
The finals look to be a long way off yet. We will have to wait and see when they come to final images....Jun will be there!
but it is GREAT to see the direction that they look to be taking it anyway.

Wow, such a fuss over the smoking when they could have found other ways to make Joe look rebel
A freaky haircut, green & pink highlights, tatoos, even a witty mouth.
A sarcastic lonely attitude and eventually his passion for dangerous sports like had in Gatch 1 could have been more convincing than ripped jeans, sunglasses in a city where sunrays never reach the ground and a ciggar.
Imagi portraited him rather irresponsable than rebel.

Gawd, I was so busy being annoyed about the cigarette that the foolishness of wearing sunglasses in that version of Utoland never struck me.
I suppose they've got a previous set of views for the wild hair thing with how people reacted to Ryu in the OAVs. Personally, I really liked Ryu's OAV look, but lots of people didn't like that.

Six years ago my husband drew "updates" of Ken and Joe's new uniforms, complete with helmets and so on. I just showed him the logo--and the helmets he had invisioned for an update are EXACTLY THE SAME as those the artists drew for the logo! Uncanny! Even the uniforms are very similar (he is a huge Batman fan, so he made them look more like Batman's suit)--just like they did for the logo.
So now that we're both sitting here really freaked out...
I'm happy to see that they're CGing the gang to look so young. It's difficult to portray age well in anime (like in Full Metal Alchemist, Al is about the size of a child, even though he's a teenager), so it's nice to see that they look like what they are--a bunch of orphan-y teens.

I didn't think they looked to much like batman.

But I do like the logo design, full of action.
I see that the swan is still in a skirt. The civy's don't look to much different from the series, just colour changes mainly.A little more detail.
I wonder if Jun is just jeans and a numbered shirt as well.
I do like the city design, very star wars though but future cities are always designed like that in movies

LUV THE PICTURES. And I don't mind a smoking Joe at all. (Frankly, I'm tired of all the PC garbage that's received a big boost from the "big tobacco" scare. But that's another topic, another post.) The most important thing is that the characters look like themselves and behave along the lines of the themselves. IMO, having Joe smoke fits by extension. And Joe must be hot. And this Joe looks hot. 
I'm with the rest of you who perceive the lack of Jun in these pics as a bad omen. Who wants to bet that they turn her into a skank-biscuit? It would be great eye candy for the guys but a horrible shot to the character and a major disappointment to female fans.

I have a nasty suspicion that the innocence and ACTUAL WOMANLY FIGURE (Ii.e. hips!!) that Jun had will be replaced by the unbelievably unachievable body that seems to run rampant throughout the whole Comic world.
I mean, I'm sorry - if you wear a size zero there is no way in HELL your boobs will be a double d. Nuh uh, never gonna happen. And, fuck. I got home and enlarged somewhat.
Now I'm worried.
Very worried.
He looks to have a almost chimpanzee facial structure. You know, the long space between nose and mouth with a small chin ... I'm somewhat concerned by that.
Now tell me. Is it just my inadequate monitor that is giving that illusion, or is he truly being given a yukky look?

I'm with you on that one Tutsunokofan,
They are just concepts for what they want to achieve, and I am grateful we have had the chance to see them.
They could just not do any releases if this stuff, But it helps to build the anticipation for the movie!
Fans are the worst for critque of anything. I think I will just go and enjoy the movie when it comes out and try not to pick too much (easier said then done)
Maybe I will go with IvoryEagle since he lives in Sydney, hubby can come too LOL
