I'm enjoying these live action episodes...

Gatchapin's "static electricity spiders" attack (or whatever it was) really had me laughing!

But now I'm also really feeling a hankering for some tempura -it looked good there at the end.

See? Gatchapin is both cultural and educational! pound

The tempura did look really good. We have some batter at the house, but anytime we have tried it doesn't do very well.

With my lack of cooking skills, I wouldn't even attempt it! But, the BF can do really good battered fish, so maybe I can persuade him to try tempura -I've had it in restaurants and it doesn't seem that different...

I'm wondering now if there are a lot of small children in Japan looking in their kitchens' microwave ovens all the time to see if anything has been sent to them. I would have thought that was a great idea when I was a little kid!

Posted by gatchgirl on 25-03-2009 at 04:29:

With some extra Drunk their might even be a couple of adults too. The Christmas parties at work have been a blast with the Japanese bosses.

Okay, this is running a bit late, but what was wrong with the pinball machines? I saw people complaining (although not the lady who complained about the missing fish and broken rice cakes) but didn't understand what they were upset about (other than the fact that they weren't getting a refund). And then, the goon 'addicted' Gatchapin to pinball?

I was really rolling my eyes when Gatchapin needed 3 tries to use the bouncing ball invention...

"The Fearsome Wasabi Hell!" Laugh2 Sounds like my first experience with sushi, many years ago -I had no idea how strong wasabi is and used rather too much...

I'm now resisting the urge to find a balloon and an orange, to figure out how rubbing the peel on the balloon makes the balloon pop -something to do with the acidity, or oils in the peel reacting with static electricity from the balloon's surface? Balloon

Posted by Transmute Jun on 26-03-2009 at 13:17:

I believe it's that the acidity weakens the material the balloon is made from.

That must have been some strong wasabi, to make everyone pass out!

I'm feeling so badly for those poor girls at the beginning...

I'm not very familiar with Smartball, and have never played it. From what little I understand, it's apparently something of a cross between pinball and pachinko, where the better score you receive on the pinball-style game pays off in a greater amount of additional balls you can use to either continue playing or turn in for prizes.

What the people were complaining about were the games not paying off like they were supposed to, with Trick Ball 1 refusing to give them a refund, or that Trick Ball 1 was blocking their view so they couldn't play properly.

And yes, Trick Ball 1 got Gatchapin hooked on playing, and frustrated that he wasn't winning like he was supposed to.

Okay, I have to ask... what was with the Easter Island heads? Were they supposed to be scaring people, or just creeping them out?

Also, why were the girls in the beginning suddenly very friendly to Gatchapin?

And lastly... this one is bugging me... what does 'daiyo' mean? I'm sure I spelled it incorrectly, but they say it a lot, usually at the end of a sentence. Often the narrator says it, and Gatchapin uses it a lot in the raps.

Or emitting some sort of supernatural, sinister energy? I'm curious too.

Like I said in my description of this series.

"These events are always pretty minor stuff (Like in this episode, where Boyoyon's Mystery Man is breaking all of the rice cakes around town into pieces), showing that the residents of Asakusa are apparently thrown into a panic quite easily."

The Moai heads appeared where they weren't supposed to be, and this caused a panic. Nothing more, nothing less.

Because they were never supposed to dislike him. He is a hero, after all. You want consistency from this show?

I'm really not sure exactly what phrase you mean. I couldn't find it in the GatchaRAP songs, and don't have time to watch through episodes right now in order to try to find it. If you could give me a specific example, that would help.

Okay, finally had a chance to look into this. What you're actually hearing is "dayo," not "daiyo." It's a sentence particle used in informal situations to replace the particle "desu." "Desu," in fairly simple terms, is placed at the end of a sentence to mean "It is," "Those are," or "I am."

I hope this helps!
