Zoltar's beam needs the purest gold to work. By covering one bar in some oil she found, Princess hopes the beam's machinery will read it as "impure", thus causing it to malfunction.

These days I've been browsing E-bay to buy BOTP comics. I notified that there are two versions of comics of Gatchaman and this seems to be one of them.
Quiet silly but also interesting to see.

There are multiple versions of comics! The first set I had in this thread (beginning pages) were from the Gold Key Battle of the Planets comics in the 1970s, printed in the US. These ones I am posting now are from the UK, printed in a weekly comics magazine. I don't actually scan them myself, but Jason was kind enough to pass his scans along to me, and that is what I am sharing.
There are also the Top Cow BOTP comics from the early 2000s, which are more 'serious', but have their own problems, not the least of which is that the storyline never finished.
There were also different BOTP comics released in France, Greece, Italy, Spain, etc. As for Gatchaman comics, I don't know what was released in Asia. I'm sure James could chime in with more information.

As far as know, there is no comics of Gatchaman in Asia.
I'm so surprised that there are a lot of versions of Gatchaman comics. Anyway I'll be awaiting for the next update Thank you!
Uh....but I need to confess that my heroes in this comics do not look handsome at all...
