"Cirque Du Freak"

Im wondering if Im too late in discovering this series of books by Darren Shan or the only one who is secretely stealing them from my son just so I can read them?!

Son brought "Cirque De Freeak" home after borrowing it from the school library (shock no. 1) ..and ACTUALLY reading it!!! (shock no. 2!) . Well I was intriguied to discover what this book had that actually persuaded my son to pick up a book and read .

and I was hooked!!

Its kinda like Harry Potter except with vampires and oh so much more horror, gruesome descriptions and with plot twists that make you audibly gasp!! In a clever move to appeal to the 11-15 year old adolescent market, darren shan writes a clever introduction by stating that all events in the book were true, a sticker also warning "dare you to read" (heck my son fell for it).

Well I fell for the series, absolutely love it! (onto book 3 at the moment) Im wondering if anyone else had heard of it to!

I'll admit it. I haven't been around cause I've been cheatin on you all at another fan site. I'm a an old but newly rediscovered Battlestar Galactica Fan.

I was IN LOVE wth Starbuck back in the late 70's. But, now I'm finding some kissable qualities in Apollo.

Anway, after the series ended after 1 frakin season, I found that Richard Hatch (Apollo) kept the story alive with novels. I'm currently devouring the first one, Armageddon.

Oh yeah...and I just ordered the first season of the NEW Battlestar Galactica on DVD. I'm going to a hard time coming to grips with the fact that they made Starbuck and Boomer women!

Wasn't Starbuck played by Dirk Benedict???

Yeppers... Dirk Benedict otherwise known as Face on the A-Team!

He has been my favorite swashbuckling, cigar smokin, womanizing fighter pilot of all time....

Actually, he ranks right up there with Han Solo and Jason/Joe. If all 3 were standing in front of me, I seriously don't know how I'd choose.

I do like the first season of the new Battlestar myself and though it's hard that that the new series is slightly different with Starbuck (not bad for a blonde) and Boomer being women and even the president in the orignal was a bloke for about 5 minutes befgore getting blown up by the cylons.

The main problem with the new series I have is with the cylons that look and act like human are there are so many of them of one type. It's just slightly unbeliverable. And what about Baltar with Number 6 in his head and another problem is why is he the ony Brityish sounding person in the series?

Oh I forgot, the orignal Apollo is in it as but not necessarily a good guy and Richard Hatch hasn't changed his hairstle for decades.

OMG!! Absolutely Loved original series of battlestar Galactica!!

How strange to admit , that back then I was an avid Apollo fan !! Even had Richard Hatch posters as well as ones of (cough cough) Scott Baio and Hardy boys and even blushcringe "Man from Atlantis" plastered on my wall at the time.

aaah Yes Apollo and Starbuck...sighswoon. Can understand why I love our gatchboys now. what does it mean tho when I also had a thing for cute little buffy the dog but clearly want to kick inane yapper 1 Rover 1?! Unimpressed

Scott Baio. Matthew Broderick. I miss the days when they were the epitome of desirable.

Battlestar. I must have watched the movie five times, only to have the parents of whoever I was babysitting that night come just before the end. Whoever set closing time must have been in cahoots with the TV stations.

Ohhhhh...swooon...Dirk Bendict! Loved Battlestar and ATeam for that very reason! Had a HUGE crush on him! I knew I liked your style Lola! You're so right...Joe, Han and Starbuck all remind me of each other...what a team that would make, huh?

I think Cep was either a Sheba or Athena fan. Not Cassiepoia though..don't get me started on her!!

Cep, can you break this thread off into a new thread...Battlestar Galactica Love Thread (starting with my original post). I have more to say on this subject and I don't want to keep hijacking Imi's thread.

hijacking is a Gatchamania tradition, although usually it doesn't lead to something seen on daytime TV reruns.

I definately watched for the ladies as well as for the daft journey to Earth. Ah yes, the journey. They went to a medieval world, then a western world and Terra, which looked like the cold war stretched well further into the future than it did in reality. They even caught the moon landings as well and found some worlds that looked like Mars, Jupiter and Saturn.

Then what happened. A spin off series called Battstar Galactica 80 or something like that with some bikes that looked like the Swan
