Ogame sucks mucho cock

I have to say it Ogame blows, what a complete and total bag of shite.

For those who don't know Ogame is an online free mmopg where you basically set up a planet, build fleets of starships and expand your empire.

The problem is the game takes days if not weeks to develop anything and as I have come to realise this game is so fricking boring its untrue, you basically log in, use up what resources you have and then fleet save ( a process of sending your fleet to another planet so it cannot be attacked whilst you are not there ).

I have spent the past month building up a considerable fleet of 21 cruisers, 51 heavy fighters, 1 recycler, 3 large transports only to have 1 guy send 1 battleship and not only has it completely wipped my fleet out but its also managed to defeat the orbital defences of the planet which were also considerable without taking any damage whatsoever.

Hack?

No. Its the game mechanics they are complete fucking bullshit as if 1 ship could defeat not only an entire planetary defence of rockets, light laser and heaver laser batteries but Ion cannons and shields but they also manage to destroy multiple vessels without taking a scratch...

Bullshit,

That game sucks mucho cock and I am not going to waste my fucking time playing such shit again.

Try VGAplanets by Tim Wiseman. We used to play version 3, and it's still out there and played a lot. DOS game, bit clunky on the interface, but fun. A classic.

Still has the same build-up phase, but it's not as long as what you described; you can expect action within two or three turns, but it's a few scouts that your home planet can easily fight off.

Some games go fast, some last for months. Very different strategies needed for each stage.

Not as many options as some of the later games, but that can be part of the fun/challenge of it. Many of the growth and combat algorithms are available, which some love and some hate. Several 3rd party clients available as well.

It's play-by-email and definitely turn based. It's up to the host what to do if someone doesn't hand in a turn. There are several automated host sites, or you can host a game yourself (automated or manual). Many automated hosts do several runs a week during the early game, then slow down to once a week for the mid-game.

The robot player that comes with it is good enough to get you past the newbie stage; host a game yourself and run a turn whenever it's ready. Also lots of online strategy manuals for it. There's a much better robot player out there as well.

Version 4 has been in development for ages, and is being played now. It's got a lot more options and is more complex.

Cheers!
Cricket

I play Oblivion on my Xvox 360 and there is a time difference. Eg, 1 hour in game is 15 minutes real time and if you don't want to do nothing for 1 hour real time, then you can Wait for a whole day in about 10 seconds.

This game of yourwhich you say sucks sounds extrememly stupid. Hoped you didn't pay a lot of money for iit Cep. Bluevscows

Nope its a free game, I am actually thinking of developing my own free mmopg, maybe I should create a gatch themed one?

Anyway at the moment I have so much to do at work and home I really need to draw up a plan of action Big Grin

That would be brilliant. Though there would be quite a few Condors and Swans flying through.

Thing is because BOTP/Gatch is centered around the 5 chars what would you do to develop such a game?

Maybe kinda like the simpsons game where you can chose what character to be... or have certain areas where a different member is used do to their expertiese!

Yes but thats verging on a platform not an MMOPG, the trouble with Gatch/Botp is that you need to give people the ability to be someone different.

could it be kinda like a rpg game for playstation or something? where all 5 team members are with you and you just put the one you need in the front???

That may be a better idea than a MMOPG.

Dunno. I have to admit, that I can't think of how to do Gatchaman in a MMOPG. Maybe something like Ghost Recon, where you could have four other friends to play the rest of the Gatchaman team adn given orders by Dr Nambu/Andersron to go off and fight Galactor/Spectre?

This is the only way I can think of.

Oh, Lord, not Ghost Recon. Hubby's addicted, as are his coworkers.

Although I guess that would be better than Gears of War.

Some fellow co-workers are into Gears Of War now but my supervisor has started to think it's not as good as the promotional stuff said.

Maybe for an MMOPG we could escape the restrictions of the storyline by saying you can be 1 of 8 character types,

I dunno, you can pick to be a swan and give yourself your own name etc and form a team Big Grin

Howsat?
