Spam, analysis thereof
One of the joys of having our own domain name, and the hosting service we found, is that we can have as many incoming emails as we like.
Wanting to know where the spam comes from, we started giving unique ones to the legit places, like store discount programs and site memberships. NONE of the spam comes from those emails. Not a shred!
Some comes to admin@onebit. Domains used to all have an admin account.
I use cricket@onebit.ca for social groups. As expected, there's tons of spam.
But the really annoying part is that there's an equal amount of spam in the account I only give out to real life friends. So most of the spam is coming from compromised machines, with nasties happily harvesting the names of all their friends.
Really, really looking forward to the replacement for POP3, if they ever agree on it!

If you can try using and RBL server. They will help cut down the problem. If your email appears on a website or forum it will be picked up by a spammer bot and spammed.

Remote Black List server, they black list isp's and ip addresses known to relay spam or who send out spam directly.
