Hmm, I assume this was posted just before the site went down, so I didn't see it before.

No ipod for me. I have an mp3 player, which I bought for my car, but I've never used it. However, my husband did use it to record an interview during a redundancy process, and that was very interesting.

So this isn't about downloading. But I may just make this particular item available for download. My husband insisted that I buy him a cd off ebay for one track that he'd heard on the radio - a version of Wimoweh by Karl Denver.

I like the song Wimoweh (also known as The Lion Sleeps Tonight). There's been like 100+ versions of it starting back in the 1930s and it's an absolute cracker to sing along to either while drunk or doing boring household chores, or more ideally both. I'm singing it now -"EEeeeeee-ee-eee-ee-e-e-eeee-um-um-awaaaaaaaeeeee" - and I'm perfectly in tune too I'll have you know.

This version is by Karl Denver. Perhaps some of you are huge fans of his and are going to be offended, but I suspect that's unlikely. Anyone out there who's familiar with Vic Reeves / Bob Mortimer and knows the pub singer from their game show Shooting Stars would feel an instant recognition for the singing style of this song. For extra effect there's a lot of "hnnnnngggg" in it as well. The random hint of hammond organ accompaniment and unsympathetically "Ren & Stimpy" like guitar solo only add to the atmosphere.

I've just had to listen to it 3 times in a row and laughed harder every time.

I realise bad music isn't to everyone's taste, and I suppose it's not so much bad as unusual and unexpected. But I have giggled myself silly over the last half hour or so listening to this. I bet my neighbours are a bit annoyed too Wink

I was going to upload it to annoy the rest of you too, but geocities isn't playing nice so I won't. Tonight. I'll do it another day when I'm not so tired.

Bwaaahaaahaaahaaa. This is the stuff the murder music episode should have used.

Heh, got geocities to behave itself.

Since I'm not much of a naughty file sharer, it'll only be there over the weekend.

Oh, and now the boards won't display my url correctly.

http://www.geocities.com/ meridian_day/music/index.html

Bollocks, all that effort to upload and now I can't get the url to even display properly.

Cep, can you help please? I know my bbcode reasonably well, but putting url tags round it, using the hyperlink button, and turning off "convert urls" and deactivating smilies aren't making my url show up properly. But it's there when I edit it so it must be some funny formatting thing that's messing it up.

I like the radio stations on ITunes. And for as little as I download, I sure do have a bunch of MP3s. I just pick 'em up here and there.

I never knew there were 100+ versions of that song. The only version I have ever heard was in the 80s and loved the song since.

The problem with iPods is that when the battery goes, then what? I bought a reasonable priced MP3 but suspect myself in the breaking of it. So I bought another one from Argos and took care of it better than my first MP3. All I do is transfer music from either my Windoes Media Player or from a CD via the Windows Media Player/Real Player and jus tlisten when I go to work and bacvk home. At the moment I am listening to the soundtracks to the Halo games.

And now for everybody's enjoyment......Singer

There are other versions of the Ipod that work a lot better, hold more mp3s, and are cheaper too. I currently don't have an mp3 player because the music library Ipods drive me crazy. I despise them, and I don't really know why. Every time I checked one out, I would get the urge to destroy it. >.>

Sounds like an Elvis impersonator before having surgery on his front teeth; the freezing took, but he's reacting badly to the nitrous. He's dancing around the office, after having stripped to his skivvies so he can surf on the operating table, while playing air guitar. The hospital staff decided, "we can't beat him,..."

I try not to download music anymore. Way to many ways for them to try and fine you, makes it a bigger pain then what it's worth.

I tried to download at MSN Music 1 song twice but gave up as it won't do it again as it costs too much money.

I agree, they cost too much for a song or two. Then they tend to not have much what I want anyhow.

I now only choose to put music on my MP3 player from my CD collection and depending on my mood, I try to choose the music to fit that mood.

When I used my CD portable player, I just chose the 4 CDs that fit my mood but now I can have upto 500 songs to fit 1 mood or several folders on the MP3 player to fit several moods.

I'm glad you managed to download it. Me and the spouse have spent odd moments all weekend singing "Yip nap nay wimoweheeeheeeeee" at each other - it's too damn catchy!

I seem to have a thing about bad music.

I was told ages ago about a music download site that's based in russia - apparently they pass on russian level royalties to the artists so it's completely legal. Can't remember the name though. Everything I couldn't get on CD I downloaded years back, and now I only make mp3s from things I own.

Should I remember the name of the site, I'll post it here. The tracks were bargain priced and they had loads of stuff on there.
