Hangover??
I was so tired (and almost completely sober) that I actually crawled off to bed before 11pm. However, I did wake up at midnight, because of the fireworks being let off outside my window.
I haven't slept through new year since I was a child.
So, you dirty stopout hungover people, happy headachy new year to you

Poor Firebird, that's worse than working on the 1st day of the New Year as some of my work colleagus had to do.
I was luckily because I don't work on Bank Holidays which meant that I didn't have to work on Monday either. Mind you this year, I just stayed at home and had only 6 bottles of Guniess and went to bed about 1 am sober.

For the first time ever, we went out for New Years.
We used to have a D&D night on New Years. Potluck supper and RP mayhem. Lots and lots of fun. When the first kid arrived, we started hosting it.
Then my MIL was widowed, and we started spending Christmas with her and New Years with my parents. (Works out great; my brother's wife's family is rather demanding, so my parents declared that the big feast is whatever day we can all get together. And if they end up having one feast per kid, then they have twice the fun.) New Years is usually spent at my parents' cottage. No neighbours, and usually asleep by midnight.
This year, Hubby only got one week off. We figured that after 10 years, it was about time he took a turn in the hot seat. And my parents couldn't come down right then. (They're driving down today.)
So, we got the MIL to babysit and stay over. We went to our favourite restaurant then decided to see what was on at the Cineplex. So, we saw King Kong. (Really good movie, but too long.)
We were home and just falling asleep when the neighbours started the count down.
