Of all the sports associated with that day in my part of the world . . . boxing isn't actually one!

Boxing Day in Australia (at least for my family) means cricket, and the Sydney to Hobart yacht race.

Too Funny! a nice literal translation of the day.

The history I was taught about the day being called "Boxing"day was to gift people like you baker, milk persons who used to deliver to your door. It was also a day when people gave boxed gifts to disadvantaged families.

It was once an old tradition that had nothing to do with sports!

We have a boxing day tradition of sharing excess leftover food with friends who are invited over. We always invite people we know who live alone to join us.
