Is Anyone Home?

I know the vote is going on about the new forum, but it seems like there have not been any posts for a few days. Just checking to see if this forum works and who's around.

Im here

I'm also here.

Just not good at thinking of things to say.

And due to the whole house being rearranged while I was on holiday, my PC is in pieces without a good place to be reassembled. So there's my fic work, graphics tablet and programs and scanner, and all my general file thingies unusable until I find a new home for it. This PC I'm using right now isn't really up to the job of having all my extra stuff put on it.

I think one of those tft / lcd monitors would help a great deal. I must go and buy one with the long service award I got from the people who pay me to turn up and stare at a screen all day Big Grin 20 years, on July 1st. Quite an achievement considering we were bought 3 years ago by a company that turned their apparently friendly buyout into a hostile one. Out of the 270 people I worked with at the time of the buyout, less than 40 remain. Given that we're been bought again this year by another company that's bound to cut down even further, I don't think I'm going to reach 21 years.

So, I shall comfort myself with a hard-disk dvd recorder and a nice thin new monitor.

OIC. I'm in the US with a job that's all year around. I do look forward to seeing the new forum and can't think of any other threads to start off hand. Just making sure I was not left behind like the "Home Alone" kid Big Grin

Nah, I'm still here too, wondering about the same thing you were Thorn.

Meridian: Hope you get settled in and get those new items. With all the crap you put up with at that company, you more than deserve that.

Ronin: Hi how's it going?

Cep : I really am looking forward to seeing the new forum. I voted to try it even if it's not perfected with all the functions.

Stardust: I could not resist bringing on the conflict in the "Handful of Words" story. If you see my latest entry or already saw it, know what I mean.

Anyone else : Hope things are going well for you.

Oooh, Meridian, I hear you. Buyouts are a pain, hostile or not. The new owners usually see their new plans rather than an existing team and product. My hubby's been told for two years that he'll get the extra training and be able to start work on the new product as soon as.... But, the paycheck's secure for quite a while yet, the coworkers he sees daily are fun, and there's no guarantee that a new place would be any better. Regardless of what eventually happens, we're grateful for 15 years that were better than many people ever see in an entire career.

Cep, as far as the board, so long as it's quick to load and easy on the browser-specific stuff, I'll be happy.
