Twenty Years On... (Just for fun)
Okay, just for fun, and handwaving aside the whole TPK thing at the end of GatchF, where would you see the team - any iteration of any of the teams - in twenty years' time?
Mark: turns into whatever-future-BotP-is-set-in's version of a hipster dad with one of those stick family decals on the back of his people mover.
Jason: stays with Galaxy Security and becomes the Battle-verse's answer to James Bond, only with a much better attitude toward women and not nearly as full of himself. Has a stick family decal on the back of his muddy, dirty SUV with all the fruit that reads (when the dirt's been washed off enough to see it) "My Condor ate your stick family."
Princess: ends up as the Chief of Galaxy Security, with Mark as her stay-at-home house husband. Does not have any bumper stickers or decals on her BMW roadster/aircar.
Keyop: grows up to become veterinarian to the stars with his own TV show. Does pro-bono work with marine mammal rehabilitation centres and owns three rescue dogs. His bumper sticker reads: "Veterinary Medicine. Because humans are gross."
Tiny: started up a seaplane tourism venture which did well for a while until his hobby of underwater photography caught the attention of a big publishing company. He sold the seaplane and is now considered one of the world's best underwater photographers. You can buy his wall calendars, postcards and coffee-table books just about anywhere. His bumper sticker reads: Photography, more expensive than drugs but a lot more fun.
Your turn!

Aw, these are all great, but I particularly love the idea of Mark throwing himself into fatherhood given his own past.

Yeah, I can just see the hipster dad version of Mark with his skinny jeans, slightly nerdy t-shirt with an unbuttoned check shirt over the top, pushing a shopping cart with kids in tow while talking to Princess on his cell phone and protesting about her being home late every night this week and trying to stop the older kid from loading the cart with candy bars at the same time as he juggles the organic quinoa and disposable diapers that the youngest is trying to toss back out of the cart.
And loving it. (Except for the part where Princess is late home from work all the time.)
As for Security Chief Anderson, he's discovered that retirement suits him, and being an adoptive grandpa isn't so bad. For some reason, however, Princess isn't keen on letting him help the children with their science homework. Something to do with explosions, she says...

Maybe he got banned from helping with the homework after a science fair "incident."

Mark in the role reversal of being a stat-at-home dad. I could see it. Burnout would have happened at one point for home.
I could see him at playgroup with his youngest. I used to co-ordinate playgroup a few years ago and we had a dad who used to come.
He was real mucho Aussie guy on workers comp. ( Works as a prison guard in high security.) The blokes do okay at playgroup. I'm now friends with his wife too.
Mark takes up co-ordinating the kids craft and morning tea rosters. ( Everyone has their job he feels.)
Then Mark takes up making gaming figurines painting them because he needs a hobby. ( DH's bestie was an at home dad for a few years. Thats what he did!)
Then the washing gets neglected and Princess has a few hard words over neglected housework because of his hobby. Then Mark decides they should have another baby... She’s well into her career... ahhh... marriage 20yrs on...

And Princess going "Sure, if you carry it to term"?

Princess could have a dilemma of a late unplanned pregnancy in her mid 40's. Mark has decided to go back and rebuild is career as a flying instructor since the kids are getting older, and now he's been told she's not giving up her position so he's at home with the baby again.
She'd express breast milk between meetings into the freezer bags.
One of my friends husbands stayed at home and his wife was in a high corporate position. She made more money than him. So he had the baby from newborn at home.
(Not how it would work with me, DH has a a really good corporate job and it would drive him nuts.)

So sweet from Mark/Ken to take care of the babies. I can totally imagine him in this kind of life
My 2 cents considerations: on the one hand, the team has seen so many tragedies that I think for them it could be natural to have a strong wish to form a family as a kind of "safe harbor", a way to balance the deaths they have witnessed.
On the other hand, perhaps for Ken and Joe this would be much difficult (to return to a civilian life, I mean) as they were the two who bear the worst scars.
Jun, who is already sweet and maternal, probably is with Ryu the most eager of the team to form a family.
But I can see her, shortly after the end of the war, pursuing a career as a professional rhythmic gymnast, and maybe even reach a medal or two at the Olympic Games. At around 30 she'll retire from competitions but she'll remain in the National team of her country to train young athletes.
Maybe she'll even open her own gym. The Swan J.
When it comes to Gatchaman series, Ken and Joe would need recovery time. People with intense focus tend to have adjustment periods- loner time. Likely overcoming illness and depression too. (Thats if Ken even survived.)
I imagine Jun even more with a family than Princess. Its okay to not be totally career driven, and I feel Jinpei would also want a family of his own one day. He'd own a zoo.
Ophans and adoptees often want their own kids. Its like trying to correct the mistakes of birth parents and abandonment. ( I don't say those things to judge personal circumstances. Observations.) Or the opposite can happen.

Ebonyswanne: I think it's great that fathers these days are a bit more willing to stay home with the kids. Whichever parent most wants to should be able to.
Jun has already shown that she'll take in a child with Jinpei. (Pretty different from BOTP where Keyop was grown technologically, but Princess still seems to keep him close and take care of him.) And I can totally see Jinpei either having a zoo or going into marine biology or something similar.
cherry kat: In Gatch I definitely imagine Ken and Joe having a difficult time adjusting to civilian life, unless one or both of them is just so bone tired down to the soul that it ends up suiting them.
