Medicom Soft Vinyl Gatchaman Figures
Hi all!
So, you say the PlayToy HK soft vinyl figures weren't enough to satisfy your Gatchaman soft vinyl figure desires? Well, you're in luck! Medicom has announced that they will be releasing soft vinyl figures of Ken and Joe!
Each figure stands roughly 10" tall, and will retail for 8,640 yen apiece (Roughly $73.50, at current exchange rates). Like the PlayToy HK soft vinyl figures, these are crafted to be reminiscent to look of soft vinyl figured released in Japan during the 1960s and 1970s, which is why they are so highly stylized in their appearance.
Medicom is accepting preorders for the figures for a limited time, between December 24th and January 31st. The figures themselves will be shipped to those who ordered them in late April, 2017.
Medicom doesn't accept orders from outside of Japan, and I currently haven't found anyplace that will be carrying them. If I do find someplace that is foreign-order-friendly, I'll let you know. However, these could end up being something that you might need to use a proxy service to order directly from Japan, or wait to get them on the secondary market.
James
I'm sure that I could get them through Celga, but I'm going to pass on these. Just not a fan of this style, though I understand why they're doing it, since it's nostalgic to the Japanese.

Hola James,
They are great! I think I will get them in few months after their release. Sometimes people buy them and after a while sell them cheaper.
Great chance to get something that looks vintage. I like the expressions in their faces with the helmets, look like the real ones!
I had a fleeting thought of Berg Katse using them as a voodoo doll...

Hi all!
Medicom has announced a continuation of this line of Gatchaman soft vinyl figures, this time of Jun and Berg Katse!
These two figures have a preorder window running between April 24th and May 31st, will be released in late August. They are scaled to match the Ken and Joe figures at 10 inches tall.
They cost a bit more than the Ken and Joe figures, running 9,720 yen apiece (Roughly $89.00 at current exchange rates). Like the Ken and Joe, these are a "Japan only" item, with Medicom refusing to accept overseas orders. However, the various proxy services out there will likely be quite happy to help you, if you would like to purchase them!

Hi all!
Medicom is continuing this line of soft vinyl figures, announcing the next two figures; Jinpei and Ken Washio!
These figures will be available for preorder from August 24th through September 30th, and will be released in December. While the Ken is the same 10 inch heights as the previous figures, Jinpei stands 8 inches tall, which I think you'll agree is appropriate. They retail for the same 9,720 yen price as Jun and Katse. Also like the other four figures, Medicom will not be accepting overseas orders, so you'll have to use a proxy service if you wish to order them.
Of course, this gives hope that we'll eventually see a Ryu figure to finish off the entire team, and raises the possibility that he'll be paired with a Joe Asakura figure. Time will tell...
James
OMG, Ken in civilian gear????????? *faints* I want but no way can I afford him.
Also very cool that they're moving toward adding all the characters to the line.

Hi all,
Medicom Toy is continuing their "Tatsunoko Generation" line of vinyl toys, finishing of the Ninja Team in uniform with Ryu, the Owl. The second figure in the set is George Asakura (Joe in civilian clothes). They are pictured below:
They're be available for pre-order starting now through November 30, and will be released in Japan toward the end of February.
As usual for the Ninja Team figures, Ryu will have a removable helmet and removable, flexible cape. I did not see any additional accessories for either Ryu or George.
Ryu will have articulation at the neck, shoulders and hips. George will have articulation at the neck, shoulders and waist.
They will cost ¥9,720 each (about $85.68 USD each)
There were some foreign pre-orders taken for the second wave of these figures, but I haven't been able to find any for follow-up waves. If I see anything I'll be sure to post it here.

I love stuff with them in their civvies! It's also good to see the Owl getting some love.
The paint's quite sloppy where the right side of Joe's face meets his hair ...

Ah that makes sense about the paint.
Hey, it'd be cool if they did RI, Nambu, and a Galactor soldier!

CW -- They'd have to sell the goons in multi-packs. Otherwise, it wouldn't be fair, since there'd be so many to gang up on him (and you know Katse wouldn't help his henchmen!)
