Did You Play Battle of the Planets As a Kid?

Hi all!

When you were a kid, did you go out and pretend to be saving the galaxy (Or at least your neighborhood) as a part of G-Force? Some of you have already mentioned doing this, but for the rest of you, let's hear about it! Did you play alone or with other kids you knew? At school or at home? Did you dress the part by adding a cape or helmet? Which character were you? We want to know all about it!

I know I've mentioned it before, but we had plastic watches for communicators and a huge tree in my grandma's back yard was the Phoenix. We played BoTP with the kids across the street. I was always Princess. Wink

I didn't play BOTP, because I had no one to play with me. But I did imagine many stories in my head.

I would tie my coat sleeves around my neck and ride my bike as fast as I could. My coat would billow out like a cape and I could pretend to be whichever character I felt like at the time.

There were only 2 other kids in my neighborhood, and Mom wouldn't let me play with them much. However, the year BotP was first shown in my neck of the woods, we had an unusually harsh stretch of bad weather (record-breaking amounts of rain, a blizzard), so recess was spent indoors. Somehow I managed to teach myself to draw the Phoenix, and spent recess time drawing battle scenes between the Phoenix and a mecha. Before I knew it, the boys were literally standing on top of each other to watch me draw and give color commentary on the fight.

That's awesome, EW! I wish I had the talent to do that! I never spoke of my love for BOTP out loud for fear of being made fun of even more than I was and even now, I still have a hard time talking about it loud. (Writing, however, is an entirely different animal Wink )

At 14 I was too old, but I did start writing about it right away. Although I somehow lost my transcribed copies of the episodes, I do still have the stories I wrote. I read them once in a while and cringe because I adlibbed a lot of changes. Once was that from the beginning I thought Jason was Spectran. He had the same hair as the green goons.

Man people have such sharp memories about this stuff. Wish mine was better! I don't recall playing G-Force, and think I got made fun of if I mentioned it, so I didn't tend to. Joining this community slowly made me more comfortable talking about it. I did write stories.
