Hitchhikers guide, a discourse.

Premier today.

No matter of the movie...is it a sound tactical move to release it same year as a Star Wars?

I heard that `Casshern` is going to be dubbed for the summer too.

I've seen pics of the new Zaphod Beeblebrox - am I right in thinking he is lacking the requisite number of heads?

Yes, I was thinking that too, oddly enough.

and arms....

Posted by Elvin Ruler on 22-04-2005 at 13:32:

Hmmm...he is, indeed, lacking a few appendages there.

But Martin! I love Martin! I love the fact that the guy who played Snape is doing his voice. Fantastic!

Ahem....

Marvin! Martin indeed (mumble mumble)....

Alan Rickman should do that voice very well indeed - as if his tones could get any more lugubrious Big Grin

A review I read today says that Beeblebrox's extra head pops out from under his chin. So I wonder if he sprouts an extra arm too, and if so where from?

Ack! *shame*

That's what I get for thinking about too many things at once!

*goes to check if she cited a Marvin instead of a Martin in her paper*

Edit: Thank you Meridian. You have saved me a few points on my paper. Hmmm...maybe I should try concentrating a bit more on just one thing...yeah.

I saw what I assume was the full trailer for Hitchhikers as opposed to the one they have been showing on TV. It was one of the best trailers I've seen in a while because it makes fun of movie trailers. I can't wait to see this one.

Posted by meridianday on 23-04-2005 at 23:14:

The trailers are also viewable here - I prefer the UK version but then, of course, I would Wink

Defnitely a site to be explored with the sound on.

I agree with you there Meridian hun, that site is much better then the official studio site, not to mention the fact that it provides the option of using quicktime or media player. Which by the way is great because media player is crap at playing online video.

I couldn't view the trailers at all using media player, but the quicktime ones worked beautifully.

And the games are interesting too. How long does it take to pick up how many peanuts after how many pints of beer?

So, I went to go see it yesterday (yes, I took my towel). It is FABULOUS. There were some changes, but they were all in character with the story (which changed everytime it switched mediums, anyway). Probably my only complaint would be that it feels too short (yes, even at 110 minutes).

And the theme song is catchy. Very catchy.

I am just wondering if any of you non Uker's have actually seen the TV show of hitch hikers?

Nope. I've heard the radio broadcast (the first version of Hitchhiker's), read the books, seen the movie, and seen the videogame. It's on my to-do list, though.

I've seen the TV series a few times, and we used to listen to tapes of the radio play while driving to visit my parents. Can't wait till the kids are old enough for that.

We saw the movie. I don't think you'd miss anything if this were your first experience with it, but you do need to appreciate the humour style. You're right that it changes every time it changes medium; adds some details the others didn't have, and takes away others.

This version had a few serious threads woven into it that the others didn't have. Trillian was very different. Not sure if it helped it or not.

It's sort of fun seeing how one author can do so many things with the same basic ideas.
