Blue Christmas
I'm going to be in the hospital for a few days, gang.
I picked up another infection in my left leg. The X-Rays were inconclusive, so I'm being admitted so they can give me the SERIOUS IV antibiotics and decide what tests to run to see if the infection's gone into the bone. (An MRI is out of the question -- I have a full-metal hip replacement.)
So, hopefully, I won't be gone very long.

oh no EW, hope the antibiotics work, and you'll be home in time for Christmas!
Get Well Soon!!!!

That stinks, EW. I'm so sorry to hear it.
Rest up so that you'll be home in time for Christmas, and get well soon!

That sucks, EW! I hope the anti-biotics work and that it is not in the bone.

EW, I hope your visit to the hospital will be a quick one and that you are out by Christmas. Please keep us informed of what is happening …. if you can.

Oh no… Here's to hoping with the rest that you will be home in time for the Holiday. (And that you get some cutie pie nurses, docs, technicians, and residents..)

So sorry to hear the news, EW! As CD said, please keep us informed and do know that you're in my prayers so that everything goes well and life would get back to normal for you ASAP, possibly in time to enjoy Christmas! Take care.

I'M NOT DEAD YET!!!!!
But I'm not home yet, either. Right now, I'm at a rehab facility, and I'm hoping to get out of here in about a week.
I'll spare you the lesser details.
I ended up getting a bone biopsy in my foot -- it came out clean, so I didn't have to do the full course of antibiotics. But I had developed a condition called "Sharko". (I'm not sure about the spelling, I'll have to look it up when I get home and can use my own computer -- I'm limited in what I can do with the system here.)
Basically, a bone in my heel popped out of alignment, so a podiatrist performed surgery to put the bone back into place. (This was done the day after Christmas.) I'll eventually have to get a rod inserted into the foot to keep this from happening again....but I'm hoping that's going to be quite a while off!
If anything else develops, I'll let you know. In the meantime, I have 504 posts to get through; even though there's no way I'll get caught up in one sitting, I'd like to get a couple of the gift exchange stories under my belt before it's time or the next round of meds! (Gotta love them drugs, man! )

EW, would you like me to email them to you? If you have limited internet access, it might help you to read through them and pass the time? It's something I've done before when participants have limited web time. All anyone needs to do is ask.

I'm glad to hear you made it through everything, EW, and hopefully that rod won't be necessary for a long time.
Enjoy the time you have with us!

Never fun to be in the hospital but especially at Christmas time, sending you hugs and blessings that you'll soon be better and home with a full recovery. Happiest of New year's to you and happy reading
Am so glad to hear that the infection hasn't gone into the bone and wish you a speedy recovery, EW! Surely, this Christmas wasn't the best one for you but, at least, you now have the ability and the chance to enjoy some good reading whilst letting the meds work! Loads of get well soon wishes coming your way!

Thanks, gang! Your warm wishes mean a lot!
Ame -- thanks for the offer, but I must pass; for some strange reason, I'm having problems with my email account here.
RB -- it could be "Charcot" -- I've only heard it, I haven't read my medical report yet (Yes, I got a copy, but there's sooooooo much to wade through!)

joining the others in wishing you a speedy recovery, and looking forward to having you back with us full time, still it's great that you are popping in and out when the meds allow it!
