AMV

I've always been in awe , admired and been inspired by Anime Music Videos.

Much like fanfiction, or fan art, I can appreciate AMV's as yet another medium, in expressing ones interpretation of characters or themes in an anime.

Imagine then my delighted surprise at finding a couple of Gatch AMV's!!!

One was far too "discoboppy" for me, tho had exellent visual style and presentation.

the Other one was much better, in terms of music selected, tho damn it to hell, it was the freaking OAV verson of Gatch..."AAARGH!"

Makes me wonder, tho with so many talented gatchfans around, how only 2 Gatch AMV's were made? Is there no one interested enough in this medium?..

Heck I would, if I could understand computers more than just pressing the on button. (sigh).

In any case, for those who want to check it out I think the website is www.animemusicvideos.org

My personal fav so far has actually been a Trigun AMV which suprisingly yet ingeniously used a hauntingly poignant Sandra Birmingham song "Eden" to delve more closely into the relationship and dynamics of Vash and his brother nemesis Knives..

Couldnt help thinking of Ken and Joe while listening to it.
I imagine Joe sitting by those statutes at Kross Koracorum awaiting his death, and those images of his teammates pop to mind..darn its great lyrics for that moment in time...

Shame the song would be too "soft" for our Gatch boys..tho heck the lyrics and music still give me goosebumps..

Did you ever think of me
As your best friend.
Did I ever think of you
I'm not complaining.
I never tried to feel.
I never tried to feel.
This vibration.
I never tried to reach.
I never tried to reach.
Your eden.
Your eden.
Your eden.
Did I ever think of you
As my enemy.
Did you ever think of me
I'm complaining.
I never tried to feel.
I never tried to feel.
This vibration.
I never tried to reach.
I never tried to reach.
Your eden.
Your eden.
Your eden.
I never tried to feel. (Your eden)
I never tried to feel.(Your eden)

Ah in too much of a mush ( an obviously insomniac rambling) mood right now.. but what lyrics/song would you place with YOUR fav Gatch scene/ characters/themes in any of the three series ? what would YOU like to see in a Gatch AMV?

Nice to see you back imaqtz!!! Big Grin

While not Gatch related when I was in High School I made 2 anime related music videos. The first was a mix of different thing including the live action film Bloodsport and animes like Akira and Project A-Ko to this song called "Sick of You" by Gwar. The second one I did was of Final Fantasy 7 to Smashing Pumpkins' "Tonight, Tonight". I'll have to look into getting them transfers onto my computer so maybe I can upload them to be viewed.

Big Grin You rock Imaqtz!!!

When I was in high school I had access to editing equipment. All I used was 2 tape decks, one for playing tapes and one for recording. So I just used the tapes of the movies I wanted. As for the Final Fantasy one I just played the game and taped all the scenes I wanted. So I've never done any editing on a computer or anything, but it looks like that going to be changing as I have basic editing software on my computer now. I do have plans to do some more, but I have so many plans to do so many things who know where the music video stuff will fall.

Oh guys, what a splendiferous idea!

What an absolute dream come true, to further explore and showcase AMV's!!

Tajiri, Pleeeeeeeease dont make me beg here. Im not above grovelling with huge pleading anime eyes , trembling lips and WILL start the waterworks , bawling at this stage if there were some way of showing us these AMV's!.

Talk about the persistance, creativity and inspiration of making your earlier works using TWO editing tapes!. Ah, I pray you WILL have time to produce oh so much more!

Ive come across and been floored by so many fanfic authors, poets, artists...Ive never been this gobsmacked in the damnest most delightful way by the knowledge we have a creatively minded, talented ( dont tell me you arent, your choice of music and anime's gave ya away *wink*) AMVer!

Talk about a surprising revelation on the hidden talents of a gatch member thats been around for close to four years!

HUGEST DAMNEST GRIN!

You guys are too much Big Grin

I'll see what I can do about getting them transfered onto my computer so I can upload them. Wilthout getting into too much details I hope to do some more in the future and those will be on my computer, or at least a similar format, so it will be easier to upload. The thing is if I do anymore I hope to enter them into some anime conventions. I don't know what the rules are about entering things that have been shown other places first, such as web sites. The easiest one for me to enter and attend would be Boston Anime but I don't think I'm going to be able to attend that one this year as I might be out of state when it's going on at the end of April. Depending on what goes on with other Cons I might just show them here because in all honestly I have other projects that I would put before entering Anime music videos into contests even though I think it would kick ass!!! But I'll see what I can do with the ones I have now.
