Cliffhanger

Recently, on another thread, Amethyst called Transmute Jun the “Master of Cliffhangers.” TJ, in response, said, “Pssst... Amethyst, that’s Mistress of Cliffhangers.”

I just had to jump in. “Hey, TJ,” I said, “ease up on the lady! If she’d called you ‘Mistress of Cliffhangers’ from the start, somebody would’ve thought she was saying that you tend to have illicit affairs with a certain type of mountain climber!”

“And what’s wrong with that?” TJ replied, “I believe the Condor is quite a good mountain climber, as shown in Gatch II....”

Oh, TJ, you poor, poor thing! When will you learn?

==========

Some would commend her for her determination and sheer moxie; others would say it was just dumb luck. Still, Transmute Jun was here, in a small cave located about 3/4 of the way up a jagged, rocky mountain.

Normally, she wouldn’t be anywhere near a place like this, especially with a cold, howling wind wrapping the driving rain around the mountain like a ribbon around a maypole.

But this wasn’t normal.

False information had been supplied and evidence had been faked. This little cave looked like a secret entrance to a base to anybody in the intelligence community. And that meant he will soon be there.

She was giddy with anticipation. In her mind she rehearsed how she would offer to help dry him – surely even he would feel chilled from the horrendous storm outside! She had to stop a few times and chide herself for giggling like a little school girl.

TJ almost didn’t hear it at first. But then, just under the wind, she heard a small, rapid clinking sound. A thin rope dropped in front of the mouth of the cave. She rushed over and stuck her head out just long enough to look up and see a fluttering winged cape. She ducked back inside and braced herself.

As soon as the dark figure was in sight, Transmute Jun sprung into action. She didn’t even look as she grabbed him and threw him into the cave. He was flat on his back as she straddled him. Whatever plan she had before had vanished from her mind.

“I love you!” she cried as she ripped open her blouse to expose her chest.

“Well, hell-low!” The voice of the man she had between her legs had a leering creepiness that made her blood run cold. She opened her eyes and found herself looking into the mask of a Galactor Blackbird.

There was a noise behind her. She looked over her shoulder to see three more Blackbirds at the cave entrance. One was brushing off the excess water from outside, another was emptying a bottle of breath spray into his mouth, and the third was hawking up and spitting.

“Uh...” Transmute Jun’s voice shook, “I think there’s been a mistake....”

Phew ... I'm just glad I'm not in TJ's place! Better if the Condor hurries!

Eek2 What?!? Are you suggesting that our sweet, lovable TJ would even consider harming little ol' me ? watchout

(Okay, being six feet tall knocks me out of the "little" category. But, still...)

Hmmm, but you are only 6 feet tall when you are standing ... when you are sitting maybe you would consider yourself "little". heh2

And as Yoda told Luke, "you think size makes a warrior great"? Or something to that effect...

Edited for sleepy keyboard...
