Thanks for posting, UW. Such a good example of the vast difference in quality between the two shows.

Since discovering Gatchaman, I've come to prefer it to BotP, and it's only nostalgia that keeps me watching Battle.

Still if it wasn't for watching and loving the program all those years ago, I'd never have discovered Gatchaman in the first place!

I'm with you, KT! To me, Gatchaman is the better show for many reasons (Not the least of which is no material being cut out and no Zark!) but BOTP has a sentimental place in my heart because of all of those years when I was rushing home from school to see it. Also, BOTP is a great universe for fanfic, because of the other planets, G-Force implants, robots, etc. There's a lot you can do with it.

Intellectually, I understand that Gatchaman is better, but, somehow, for me the series will always be about G-Force...and I just can't imagine Jason with any voice other than Ronnie Schell's!

I think the best way to look at the shows is not to compare them, but to consider each show on their own merits, their own strengths and weaknesses, their own high points, and their own low points. They each have them.

They are distinctly different shows that just happen to share the same primary animation.

Fifteen-ish years ago I was plastered to the TV every time it showed G-Force. I don't remember much of it, with the exception of the impact Galactor (=Katse) made on me. But now i can't imagine anyone but Mikio Terashima as his voice. The Zoltar voice is just too cartoon-villainish. I never saw the BotP version, so I can't compare.

Thanks for the link, UW!

I understand what everyone else is saying regarding BotP remaining close to the heart being a childhood memory! As many might know, I see it the other way, since I grew up watching Gatchaman, instead!

I do remember myself getting confused as a child, though, in the transition during which I was able to watch Gatchaman episodes together with BotP ones, them being aired at the same time on different channels for us available at the time! Even though I was still a child, I did see a lot of differences between the two, but I just couldn't distinguish between series, at first thinking that they were episodes from different parts of the same series since they were aired on different channels! I started questioning myself when I started to catch glimpses of the same episodes in the two different universes! And one had that much annoying robot involved when the other didn't! I instintively chose to stick with what I then discovered to be the real Gatchaman series on the Italian channels, other than the BotP episodes being regularly aired on our national channel! Guess Zark played a big part in my not choosing to stick with BotP! I do respect the series, though, viewing it as a different entity from Gatchaman as Amethyst suggested!

Yes ... it really was, CW!

I admit that it took me quite some time to figure out which was which, and to distinguish between the two universes! Then, when finally joining this site, after so many years, I had, and still have, the privilege to discover new things about the two, and to have many of my previously unanswered questions answered!
