Yes I just heard about this on the radio. I was shocked to hear how old he was. I guess it shows I am getting older, even though I don't feel like I am.

I can't help wondering how many people realize that many of the things we rely on today weren't possible before Armstrong's trip to the moon.

Couldn't believe it when I first read about it. I never knew a lot about him (as a former eastern block citizen, I know much more about the Soviet astronauts), but I can't think anything but 'A legend has died.' I'll have a glass of wine in his honour now. His name will never be forgotten.

It is a sad day that we loose Neil Armstrong. He and his crew made all of our dreams come just that little bit closer.

I sat half the night watching CNN and BBC and the tributes! So sorry to hear he died -- not only was he the first man on the moon, but he seems to have been a very kind individual also. Pity that the US is stopping the manned-flight programme. As someone who, at the age of 12, watched the first Columbia launch on TV and actually looked up to see it in the sky at night (I THINK I did -- the TV had given instructions which way to look and at what time), I wish there would be more manned flights and more heroes like Neil Armstrong in the future!
