Reporting Live from Las Vegas ...

As some of you know, I'm spending a few days in Las Vegas. It is my third trip here and my husband's first.

We arrived yesterday, mid-day, after trying to get lost in Barstow looking for a gas station. Spent the rest stretching out from the five hour drive from Buttonwillow where we spent Saturday night, learning our Hotel area. We are staying at Mandalay Bay.

We have a great room on the ninth floor, not too high up, but high enough to see out. Unfortunately we don't have a great view. Well, maybe to some we might. We have a wonderful view of McCarren airport, which is a pretty nice airport as airports go. I flew in there the last time I was in Vegas a few years ago.

I got to see my first Las Vegas show. Not Cirque du Soliel or Chippendales, though may do that tonight if DH gets stuck in a poker tournament. We saw Penn & Teller. They were hilarious. Their routine is even funnier than the bit parts they had in a few movies from the 80's.

Not sure what I'm doing tonight. In a few minutes, I'm going to head out up the strip to Harrahs for Keno lounge. There I can sit and play numbers while I write, maybe have a few margaritas.

Tomorrow night, we are having dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe on the strip and then walking the strip. It should be a good long walk and burn off the calories from a few extra meals and drinks.

It sounds like you are having fun in Vegas. I remember doing a few of those things when I made it there a couple of years ago. Mostly walking the strip and stopping to see the outdoor shows.

Enjoy yourself and continue to keep us up dated if you can.

Lost about $80 playing Keno today.

Tonight is definitely going to be Dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe with a friend from the HP fandom. Not sure what will do after dinner, but do want to see the strip at night. Only saw a bit of it the other night in a taxi ride and the last time I was here, years ago. At least I'll be prepared if I ever have to visit New York and ride in one of their cabs.

I think tomorrow we are going to walk across the street to the Tropicana and see the Mob Experience, get a feel for classic Vegas. The Vegas that was just starting to change the first time I was out here in 1985 and was gone the last time I was out here about 10 years ago.

I've got a few pictures. Maybe tomorrow, I'll get them downloaded and posted.
