I won an award!
I'm so excited! I won the Dwarf Stars Award this year from the Science Fiction Poetry Association. It's an annual award given for the best super short speculative poetry from the previous year.

Thanks, everyone! EW, I saw that you had sci fi poetry published recently. Congrats! It's nice to know another sci fi poet - although other than scifaiku, I haven't written much sci fi poetry. I didn't have much luck with publishing poetry until I stumbled into short forms - scifaiku, haiku, tanka, Fibonacci sequences. Then I finally found where I fit. After a 20+ year drought, I started getting acceptances and my writer's block fell away. As for this poem - it was rejected by one editor before another one picked it up. So, persistence pays off, too.

The best works get rejected by someone first. Persistance is what counts. It's wonderful you found your nitch.
Congrats!!!!!!!

Clouddancer - I am consistently impressed by the quality of writing I've seen across the Gatch fandom. And some of the art (not mine!) is downright amazing. We are a lucky bunch.

Julie, after visiting other sites and reading stories in other fandoms, I too am impressed by the quality of work I see and read.
As I have seen others wonder - does it have something to do with our average age - which appears to be much older - than many other fandoms? And is it also because we know how to give critical reviews without being hurtful, and able to accept those reviews without feeling like we are being attacked? Again, something I hear happening in many other fandoms.
