I was just thinking that since we forgot our anniversary.

I know how sad that sounds.

Not so much, Becky. My parents have been forgetting their anniversary for decades! It just falls at a very busy time of year for them.

We made the mistake of getting married at Thanksgiving. Moveable holidays should be avoided for weddings.

You're not the only one who chose a date like that; we chose Labor Day Weekend.

But at least Labor Day isn't a 'required to see the relatives as they don't care if you'd planned to be alone' holiday.

That's true. And then there was one Easter before we got married that we decided at the last minute to run up to Reno, my mother half expected us to elope then, but we didn't.

Was she disappointed?

Actually, we eloped. Called a few friends to join us for the civil cermony and dinner afterwards.

No, actually, I think she was relieved.

I'm curious what is more difficult: dealing with family in planning a wedding or dealing with family after an elopement?

Either way, I do believe that family makes things more stressful for the bride and groom.
