Jpeg images not in Preview

I have temporarily turned off jpeg images from auto-load in posts because of the recent jpeg exploit that has been discovered.

You can still upload and view jpegs but you will not be forced to automatically load the images, so basically if you want to view a jpeg uploaded by a member you must click at your own risk.

I seriously doubt that any one would place a malicious file and currently the exploit is new but I'll take the precaution anyway.

Ta very much. Gifs and pngs are still not exploitable, are they?

Now, this is an administrator who takes care of his friends.

Many thanks!

Microsoft does have a patch for it, though. I'm going to go look for it now. Supposedly it's in the "critical updates" section. Hopefully this won't cause my comp to crash. Nothing like returning from class to check on the install and finding that the install caused your computer to crash and lose everything. O_O

Yes. Yes I've learned that *now.* Back then...back then it was too late. Ten gigs of anime-related stuff down the drain. Forever.

*cries*

It was last year and I *still* haven't found everything I lost.

<Joins Elvin on the couch for a good sob.>

But, but, remember all the fun you had assembling it in the first place?

Yep. And, though I haven't found everything I lost, I have found a bunch of cool stuff, adding up to about 5 gigs. Add in all the cd backups (which I now do fairly regularly), and I have quite a bit. I go through various themes of collecting sprees. Right now, it's artwork. Before that was mp3s (which I still look for every now and then), and anime movie openings/music videos.

School cuts into it quite a bit, though. My poor hard drive would probably be full if it weren't for school. ^_^

Speaking of using CDs to back up:

Cd-Recordable Discs unreadble

Basically, don't trust the suckers.

Sigh,

What I wouldn't give for a really fast stone-carver some days. Or an Egyptian tomb-painter. Those guys made stuff that lasted.

Hmmmm...that's interesting. I have some that are about 5-6 years, and I still run the information directly off of them. So...Memorex is a pretty good brand, I guess. ^_^

But yeah, I have tons of music and data CD-Rs, some I've had for a very, very long time. They all work fine with the exceptions of a few that have been beaten up. (A tip? Don't trip, dropping and stepping on a cd-r. It doesn't like it very much.) I've also found that when I *do* have troubles, I can use some of that repair liquid to fix them right up. (With the exception of the beat up one. Why do I still have it? I don't really know. ^_^)
