For fans of Warhammer 40K...

Shame it will never see the cinemas.

Hi Tengu,

I was looking at this recently, it was released back in November and to be honest its a typical "do it on the cheap" production by Games Workshop.

Can never understand why a company with such a great background story and attention to detail always let themselves down with cut rate productions of their work.

Had they gone to Pixar and spent some actuall money they would have had a very successful film.

Just a shame really.

Well, it wont be in the cinemas.

Its a 15 certificate, and so would miss the target audience. Those chainswords arent just for show, you know.

And a company like Pixar would want too much control....and money

Yeah but the quality of the film is really bad, in fact the intro film to Dawn of War is far better quality. I agree Pixar would have cost more money but at least they would have had a much better product.

The problem I have found with GW is that they always go for the cheap approach. Which is a real shame because they have the franchise to be huge, and I am not saying they are not big amongst their own fanbase but these are people who know about the modelling and board games. They could be much, much bigger around the world, with people who are not interested in their core products.

I mean could you imagine how popular a really good MMORPG of the 40k universe would be if they did it properly? It would be bigger then World of Warcraft, without a doubt.

Getting back to the film I feel they have just let themselves down.

The movement of the characters is unnatural and blocky, there seems to be some very long and protracted scenes between dialog and the film doesn't actually portray the Astartes very well at all.

First they are being berated like noob soldiers and their armour doesn't seem to protect them from anything and on top of that they all look like old age pensioners in battle armour.

Since when from looking at any the actual artwork in GW did any of the Astartes look like Victor Meldrew?
