time to introduce myself
Hey all, just wanted to say hello...just got everything up and running for my profile on here, so...yeah
I'm Scott, I'm a writer from Canada
I was a huge fan of BotP when I was a kid...for years I had memories of a show that I watched when I was young but couldn't remember what it was called. Eventually about 10 years ago I asked my older sister if she remembered what it was and she informed me that it was BotP. So after a quick internet search I found out that it was in fact the same show.
Since then, I've been buying all of the BotP dvds and the Gatchaman dvd sets (oddly, I'm watching one of them right now). I have also been collecting some of the old toys and things like that and have a large tattoo of Ken on my left leg.
Anyhow, I've been spreading the word to people for years about the greatness of the show. And well, if anyone wants to know anything about me, feel free to ask. I'm quite open.
Later all
Welcome Scott. Pull up a barstool and enjoy yourself. Feel free to jump into and participate in any thread.
What part of Canada are you from? We have a fairly large contingent living in the Toronto and the surrounding area. I am one of them.
You are a writer - so do you write any BOTP stories? We have a lot of avid readers here as well.

Welcome! You're story is similar to many others, mine included. Somehow, we are all able to find our way here.

Hi Scott! Have fun wandering in and around the threads here -- there's some amazing stuff!
So, what do you like to write? Fill us in!

thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
clouddancer- I'm from St.Catharines (if you're near Toronto then you may know where that is...if not, it's the city before Niagara Falls if you're travelling towards the states on the QEW)...I actually haven't done any fanfiction of anything that I can think of...I've considered it but I've never done any...I'm not sure why
amethyst- it's become a ridiculous obsession of mine for the past few years...I'm sure that I'm annoying more than I'm converting
gatchamarie- I am an eagle...Mark (Ken) was always my favourite...I loved the way that he could be in control of a situation but still be completely bad-ass
madilayn- I think I shall
RIgirl- professionally I write a monthly column for a political magazine, it's alright because I believe in what I write, but it's definitely not what I want to be writing for the rest of my life...I enjoy writing novels and short stories (I tend to do a lot of coming of age type things...think Bret Easton Ellis or Jay McInerney) but I also write poetry (usually odd stream of conscious style things) and I used to write short plays way back in high school.
Scott, I think to some degree we are all annoying, especially to those who don't share our infatuation.
As for what you write, please share it. We have several published authors here, and more than a few who want to be, are trying to be, or just want to write. However, we have just as many insatiable readers as we do writers. Many of us gobble up original and other fandom works as well as Gatch related work (fiction or non-fiction).
Political stuff, hmmm. Love to read some of that, but would hate to disagree. (I'm a reformed republican, with centrist to currently more liberal leanings).
Anytime you want to blow your own horn, check out the Creative Corner section of the forums. You'll probably find more support than you'd expect.

Do you have a picture of your Ken tattoo?

amethyst- i have a couple of blogs where i ramble for the most part, but i also put some of the actual work up on there...the other one deals with political writings but i'm not entirely sure what the feeling on here is if someone new comes on and just starts posting links to their blogs...i'm on another message board for an author and i'm still not sure if i should put any of the links up...and i've been on their for about 6 months...and the political viewpoints that i have can be seen as...too liberal...i'm an anarcho-socialist
springie- i do have a picture...i was going to try to make it my avatar but that doesn't seem to be working no matter how small i make the picture
I think if you are posting links to your writings, it is okay if you do it in the correct forum and if it is political, just put a warning on it. Those who are interested will go and read, those who aren't will pretty much ignore the post. Just gotta watch that the discussions stay on the other site or at least stay civil.
No worries here on you being too liberal, one of my best friends is a Green Party liberal and her boyfriend is close to your description with a little bit of conspiracy theorist added in (the government is one massive cover-up operation). I enjoy reading extreme left ideologies (they firm up my centrists thinking); reading extreme right, however, gives me headache, makes me doubt the intelligence of the human species, and just pushes me closer to the left (in other words, they scare me).
