No, they don't have anything better to do. They spam boards because there's a chance that someone will respond. Depending on the numbers, even a minor response rate could reward their efforts. They may even be doing this to boost search engine response rates (although I think I'm wrong about that).

Meanwhile, they can find themselves given the MST3K treatment, or this particular ID banned, or ignored, or whatever.
