Challenge - work Gatchaman into conversations with strangers

A challenge for the week (if you choose to accept it)
Work Gatchaman or BOTP into a conversation with a total stranger
and then let me know, what happened!!

Today at a seminar while discussing the merits of trading strategies, I found the opportunity to mention Gatchaman ...well Joe!!

The table I was at, were talking about "Iron Condor Spreads" - using Bull Put and Bear Call in a sideways market.....(yes!.. it is interesting stuff!)
Of course I heard Condor and named it Joe's Strategy (an anchor to remember it by)..which then lead to a converstation about BOTP and Gatchaman.

I am working on anchoring the ladies at work to call the male mannequine Joe (torsos only, good anatomic definition, alas like all manniquines they only have bumps like Barbie's Ken)

Let me know how you go at spreading the word.

I've spread it to my family. Everyone knows what I mean when i use a Gatchaman term... or a BOTP term or an Eagle Riders term... Wink

All the scenarios I can think of would surely result in me getting blank looks and confused stares. Still, there is always the 1 in a 100 chance that a stranger will know what you're talking about and turn out to be a fan too, which would be cool.

Unfortunately, from all the people around me, only my DH has a remote memory of Gatchaman ... a memory which I'm constantly trying to refresh!! I know that even my two brothers would surely know about what I would be talking about, if I will ever have the courage to mention it to them ... but, I try not to, though, as they'll surely return to treating me like their baby sister, with her immature mind!

When I try to see if any of my friends remember Gatchaman, what I receive in return are mostly blinks of their eyes, or huge question marks on their faces! I so wish that someday, somewhere, I'll find someone close to me that would be able to share my Gatchaman thoughts! Surely, I'm not the only one here who have watched the series! Even though, until now, that's the impression I'm having!Sad1

I teach my class about writing fanfiction...and I usually bring in a small, tame piece of something I've written. Some of them have even said, "I saw that on Boomerang (a network that shows old cartoons)!"

Does it count if my ice-breaker is examples of Gatchaman art all over my office wall?

Mad Katharine - I think EVERYTHING counts.
Iborgia88 - I understand about blank looks and confusion - I just ignore them, as you said it just takes one
Gatchamarie - the world is a big place, I'm sure there is someone out there, who feels the same way , waiting to meet someone like you

I applaud you all for your efforts!!
