Gatchaman Idol

The birdies have all been picked to be in a reality show/singing competition (either for real or as part of an undercover mission). What songs or genres do you think your favorite birdies would sing? Who would win?

And would Jun get bonus points for playing guitar while she sang? Maybe she'd do a Fiona Apple song, like Criminal.

Somehow, I can see Joe doing AC/DC. And Ryu would do country of some kind. Ken would whistle Dare Da, being too embarrassed to sing.

I could see Jinpei doing something in the gangster rap type... just to P.O. off Jun. Maybe even wearing the baggy pants and such.

Ryu, I could picture doing something along the lines of Neil Diamond, or Barry Manilow.

I think Jun would do a country song, maybe Pasty Clines (I think that's who sang this) These Boots Were Made For Walking. For the first couple of times she would play her guitar... towards the end, she would get to much into it, and not want too.

I'll have to think more of Ken and Joes pics for me... plus I'll let ya know who I think would win later too. Happy

I don't know why, but when I think of Jinpei singing, that pic of him as a rapper, which Springie likes to show us from time to time, keeps coming to my mind! Hence, Jinpei could rap, maybe accompanied by Ryu, who would join in the venture for some fun! Or, maybe, the Owl would surprise us with a tenor's voice like Pavarotti's!!

I agree with the fact that Ken would be too embarrassed to sing, so, although he's the No. 1, this time he'll surely not be the winner, even if he tried! His usual whistling would really be his only option!

I, somehow, imagine Joe singing the style of Brian Adams, with that kind of hoarse, sexy voice, and a song sung from the heart!! For me, he could well be the winner!

Last, but not least, there's Jun! I agree with Gatchgirl regarding the country style music for her, together with her guitar. Moreover, I could also imagine her singing ABBA style! I don't know if it makes sense, but it's the way she dances that makes me think this way!

And Jinpei doing the rap sounds right too. So like him...

Marie, I'm loving the thought of Ryu being the 'gentle giant' with the amazing operatic voice!

If so, I could see either Joe or Ken doing dancing, ok, maybe Joe more so...

In the end, I think of the 5 doing what I've pictured them doing, I think it would come down to Jun and Ryu in the end, with Ryu taking the prize....

Still for whatever reason, I'm still trying to picture what Ken might do... can't picture him singing at all.

I've got to agree with Jinpei and rap, and I can also picture Ryu joining him, maybe providing the melodic bits and a deeper counterpoint to what would be a really annoying kiddy rap voice Big Grin

I can't see Jun doing country though. She's a go-go girl, she wants to dance, and not just line dance. I think "These boots are made for walking" is a great choice, but I picture her doing a dance version.

Joe I can picture doing some kind of very 70s ballad, some kind of tragic love song. Or "I'm in love with my car" by Queen, except it needs to be something better known for any kind of talent show. Can anyone think of a well known song about loving a car? The only other one I can think of off the top of my head is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and that is not right at all.

I can picture Ken having tried to organise everyone to do a song together, something really poppy and innocuous, and having failed to get them to agree, having a mighty sulk.

BotP team: sorry, can't really picture any of them singing; well, maybe Princess, but that's about it. And no, I do not want to listen to Keyop rap.

OAVs: Not sure about the others, but yeah, I can see this Joe doing anything metal

Original Japanese cast: again, not sure about the others, but give Joe any ballad and he'll win hands down.

ADV cast: again, I'd put my money on Joe (even though I haven't heard Brian Jepson sing, I do know thanks to the dvds what he has supposed to have done), so I'd like to hear him sing either Revolution or Hey Jude (the only Beatles' songs I really like).

I think Ken would sing AOR type of stuff like Journey or Prophet. Agree with TJ about Joe probably doing AC/DC and UW about him doing I Can't Drive 55 also. Ryu I think would do ZZ Top.

I could see Ken being embarassed, but if a mission dictated that they enter a singing contest I think his sense of duty would compell him to sing... something. With his big blue eyes and shaggy dark hair, he could probably rake in the teenaged votes by dressing in black and singing something angsty and emo.

Joe, I agree, would go for a rock song, something with some swagger to it. I love the idea of "I can't drive 55"!

Jun I see doing something that's upbeat, danceable pop and as I figure she's the Ninja with the most musical ability and experience performing, she would probably win (plus Ken and Joe would be competing for the same voters -girls who vote for the hottest guy- and cancel each other out to some degree).

Ryu I see doing something country/folky, probably because he's from a small fishing village and I think he would have a small but very devoted following.

I could see Jinpei deciding he wants to be a rapper, but I suspect he wouldn't get a lot of votes!

The only one I can really imagine singing is Jun (Isnt she strumming a guitar in the ep where they trash the snack bar in a fight?) and for some reason it is country and western too!

Maybe ken would get involved if they all did something like that chumbawumba song, YMCA or Khe Sahn?
