Favorite One-Shot Character...

Favorites Week continues, and this thread is for discussing your favorite characters who showed up only once (or twice, if you're talking about a two-parter). WHich of these people intrigued you? Which ones did you wish to see again? And yes, you can include the puppy from episode 20 if you want...

I know there's *someone* on this board who loves Koji, and others like the CotW from Iron Beast Snake 828. I think for me, I'd have to say Eva Douglas... a poor victim of Galactor in Gatchaman II. I'm so predictable... Wink

I would say my favoritie one-shot character has got to be Taro, the St. Bernard from ep. 37. Not exactly a person, but as Ken says, he's the only dog that saved the world!

Hmmm, may be Rumi? Flower
It would have been a potential love triangle, if creators had paid more attention to her Biglaugh1

I'll take the puppy! None of the others really stand out to me as being a favorite. Fun to play with in fanfiction maybe, but not favorites.

So, two animals and a few women... I can see what kind of characters we like here! ROFL 2

The first character that's coming to my mind is Alan! Strange choice, for me, perhaps, but I so wished there could have been more time, and a chance, for reconciliation, and further explanations, and that, for once, Joe would not have had to face such a type of tragedy again!

I have mentioned this character as he has left a huge impact over me, but I won't exclude some of the female characters that had the potential of involving our heroes into some kind of intriguing relationship, either!

Orion! (Or Taro, if you prefer...)

This was one of the two episodes that I actually preferred the BotP version over the original Gatch version. At least Orion lived to see the end of his episode!

Oh, I forgot about Cathy! It seems she and Joe match each other.

I agree, he's always interested me, with all the past history that he shares with Joe. Actually, all the female one-episode characters connected to Joe tend to interest me a lot, and make me wish there was more time in an episode to flesh them out more fully with regard to where they came from, how they got involved with Galactor (and why they want to leave).

Lucy knows Joe, but we never find out how she met him or how well they knew each other.

Or Maya -what might have happened with her and Joe if she hadn't died?

Or this Devil Star, whose name we never learn (but who was engaged to Alan).

There's a couple characters in Gatch II's ep 21 that have always interested me too -Ken's two classmates from the flight academy he'd attended, Carl and Lisa, who he sees at the reunion. I've always had the feeling, from all the sad, longing looks that Lisa keeps casting at Ken and from Carl's hostility to him, that there must have been some kind of love triangle going during their student days together.

IMHO, Lisa is incredibly doleful (because of her never-smiling face I even don`t like the episode). I can`t belive that Ken might love such a girl. May be she loved him (as practically all other girls he met Biglaugh1 ).

He only loved her because she looked just like Jun. Wink

IMHO, there are too many look-like-Jun girls in the series, so it can`t be the only reason Wink

That's great, Yul! Laugh1

I guess this also explains Kena in Gatch II's ep. 32. It was more than just amnesia -she reminded him of Jun!

pound Yul, that's great! One of them is even wearing Ken's shirt!

You know, many of the one shot girls looked like Jun... I always thought that Jinpei's "Maria" looked like Jun with blonde hair...

...and yes, I'm the one who likes Koji...he reminds me a lot of Ken in looks (although Ken is waaaaay better looking), but they give him sort of a Joe attitude...and he'd a great rival for Ken. There was so much they could've done with that character.

I think, the explanation is easy, and is called «tatsunoko`s drawing style» biggrin2
Аppearances of all good young female characters have much in common. Grouprainbow The same thing is with male characters. Koji looks for me mid-transformation from Ken to Joe.

And, this happened to many of the heroes in other Tatsunoko's productions also, finding many of the main characters having a lot in common with Ken!
