Help finding - Joes Whistle in Eagle Riders

Just watched the first 7 episodes of Eagles Riders.
Love it..... it's a hoot!!!! Silly2

But... I digress with flash backs.....I am after the Whistling that preseeded Joe Thax turning up in the desert.. It sounded like "when the ant go marching"

I think it would be a brilliant ring tone- googled put just get references

ps Mallonox is an absolute nutter and so sarcastic to everything and his androids back chat him, plus for some reason when ever I see
cybercon I keep getting flashbacks to Sailor Moon
They must have been on some light medication when they translated the script... have to watch more episodes tonight

pps now REALY understand the chicken reference to the phoenix and the falcon tracker remind me of the penguins in "happy feet"
Silly2

Littlewolf ... I have heard a lot of people say the song reminds them of the song "When the Ants go marching in" But, if is is the song I am thinking of, I believe it originates from the song "When the Saints Go Marching In." This might help with your search. You probably will not find someone whistling it for a ring tone but you should be able to find something you like.

I think "When the Saints Go Marching In" is a much more apt connection for Joe. First from canon/fanon where people feel Joe had a strong religious connection. And second like a Saint he has been "resurected."

Have a look at this link from Wikipedia for the historical context of the song Saints Go Marching

I thought the song was, "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" (even though it is the same tune as the "Ants Go Marching" LOL)... I think "Johnny" was a Civil War tune, If I am not mistaken...

"When the Saints Go Marching In" is a different tune...

COOL! I just looked it up on Wikipedia...and there's an old 1898 recording of it you can listen to...

When Johnny Comes Marching Home

Thank you Springie. I had not watched that episode in several years and I wondered if I got it correct.

All I remembered was the Ants was an adaptation from a (more adult) version of a song.

I still think it's funnier to think of it as 'When Ants come Marching In'. He must be recalling the ants from that early Gatchaman episode...

Just so you know, LE, when Saban bought the rights to use Gatchaman II and F in Eagle Riders, they did *not* buy the rights to the audio. This means that they couldn't use the Gatchaman music or sounds in any way. In Gatchaman II, Joe is whistling 'Dare Da' in the way that Ken did in the first series. Since Eagle Riders had to replace it with something... well, we got ants. Wink

This is also why Hunter's saucer sounds like a party noisemaker. Fweeeee!!!!! Party1

The only problem is, while Saban picked a tune that does relate rather nicely to Joe coming home, it has an unexpectedly apt children's version!

I don't think "Johnny" was the best possible choice, since the song talks about the celebrating that'll happen when the soldier comes home, and the first thing Joe (either) does is have to go blow something up.

But then, we could discuss from here to next month about what would have been best for him to whistle. So I'm not going to worry about it.

Tho come to think of it, blowing something up might be G-2's way of celebrating... Tongue2

I can't help but think of Styx's "Mr. Roboto"

Bwahahahahaha...that song will never be the same to me now, LB! pound

"secret, secret...I've got a secret..."

Well, the lyrics are strangely apt, aren't they? And they even have some Japanese! Laugh1

Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto
Mata ah-oo Hima de
Domo Arigato, Mr. Roboto
Himitsu wo Shiri Tai

You're wondering who I am - Machine or mannequin
With parts made in Japan, I am the modern man.

I've got a secret, I've been hiding
Under my skin.
My heart is human, my blood is boiling
My brain IBM.
So if you see me, acting strangely
Don't be surprised.
I'm just a man who, needed someone
And somewhere to hide
To keep me alive - Just keep me alive.
Somewhere to hide to keep me alive.

I'm not a robot, without emotion
I'm not what you see.
I've come to help you, with your problems
So we can be free.
I'm not a hero, I'm not a savior
Forget what you know.
I'm just a man whose, circumstances
Went beyond his control - beyond my control.
Beyond my control, we all need control.

I am the modern man, who hides behind a mask
So no one else can see, my true identity.

You are correct LB, those lyrics fit Joe perfectly.

I still prefer Joe singing 'I'm just a love machine!' to Jun! Big Grin
