Songs that sound like other songs
There's certain songs out there that sound like other songs. Do they sound like these songs intentionally? Or is it just a coincidence? Whatever the reason is, there is more than one song like this.
Examples:
The main riff in U2's I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight sounds alot like Journey's Faithfully.
Ray Parker Jr.'s Ghostbusters sounds like I Want A New Drug by Huey Lewis & The News.
This is just what I know off the top of my head.

Kids Rock, (think that's his name, Pamler Andersons EX) his latest song
eg lyric "We were smoking funny things" (just google called "All Summer Long"
everytime I hear the start of it, I start singing "Werewolves of London"
many be it's the start up rift that reminds me
(oh I feel old, tried explaining it to one of the younger people I work with - they looked at me and asked If it had something to do with Twilight or Trueblood - oneday they will rehash or mix Werewolves of London and they will things it's new)

Oh, LW, NO!
I still get creeped out by what UB40 did to Red Red Wine! And I like Reggae.
I have no desire to hear a rap or modern punk version of Werewolves of London.

Oh heavens your right, just had a horrible voice in my head doing a slow version
Harry Conick or worst Buble, a crooners version, or even worst, Barry White (many be... That how I imagine Joes voice , deep and sultry Jones/White mix..Oh I digress)
Ray Parker Jr, Tom Jones
(drum Roll) Glee doing a Werewolve/ vampire episode
Sometimes I think my evil side is winning

Allen, Niel Diamond wrote and recorded in the 60's or 70's long before UB40 was around. He also wrote the theme song for The Monkees tv show.
Red Red Wine had a slow morose tempo originally.
Speaking of covers. While Whitney Houston recorded 'I Will Always Love You', Dolly Parton wrote and recorded that song before Houston was recording, and did the better version in my opinion.

I actually like Soft Cell's version of Tainted Love.
I wonder about the current craze of "sampling" - where bits of other songs are included in new ones. It's a tribute, of a sorts, but if a songwriter is talented, then they shouldn't need to.

Sampling's been around for a couple of decades. After a while, it becomes amazing to find a song that someone actually wrote and performed all by themselves.

Ah, thanks TJ! I wondered about but just had to ask anyway.
Madonna did American Pie? I'm kind of glad I missed that.
