I've arrived at last! And I've brought some goodies!
Greetings all, I'm Dirk Daring (the user, not that other Cam Clarke-voiced guy). I guess you could say I'm one of the, if not THE biggest fan of "G-Force: Guardians of Space" in these here intarwebs. Having first seen the series during it's premiere U.S run on Cartoon Network back in 1995 (even though it was produced and sitting on the backburner for almost a decade before that), it was my introduction to the world of Gatchaman, as it probably was for many other '90's kids as well. As a kid I thought it was awesome, but seeing as I was in the midst of the nationwide "Power Rangers" mania at the time, I didn't fully appreciate it as much as I'd like (don't doubt that one of the reasons it returned to the air in '95 was to cash in on the PR phenomenon!).
Years later, in the Spring of '04, when Gatchaman returned to U.S airwaves after several years with "Battle of the Planets" short-lived run on Boomerang, I began remembering the show, and soaked up all the stuff from all of the Gatch fansites I came upon. Unlike with BotP (which already had several DVD releases), information and episodes of "G-Force" were hard to come by, unless you knew someone who had VHS recordings of the Cartoon Network run. Luckily I got my hands on a pair of "G-Force" eps off of the defunct (is it still alive?) eMule, and thus my fascination with the show was re-ignited again.
I began frequenting message boards, much like this one, soaking up the knowledge from those who had watched BotP and G-Force. I even conversed with reknowed Gatchaman "guru" Jason Hofius, who provided me with a WEALTH of info unheard anywhere. It was thanks to all of these sources that I was able to put together the Wikipedia page on "G-Force", beginning in March 2007:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G-Force:_Guardians_of_Space
which is still being updated to this day. Recently, I've updated it with info from my conversations with Dean Andre, composer of the show's theme song (and the "infernal backbeat") which so many love (and hate), from whom I learned even more fascinating, behind-the-scenes stuff about the show!!!
Also, on YT account, "SuperAdventures", I've uploaded several episodes, which I got off of the web and from my personal collection as well. It was thanks to oft-wonderful Gatchaman community that I was able to get all 85 eps of "G-Force" at a steal!
Some of you may already recognize me (and vice versa) from the defunct "Gatchaman Archives" message board from awhile back. It was sad to see activity on that board dwindle down to nothing in it's last days. I've noticed that a lot of the people there had migrated here, in fact I contemplated registering here many moons ago but was just too tired/lazy to register at so many message boards! I've also been reading some posts and kinda noticed that there's some conflict between GA webmaster "gatch72" and some of you guys which is truly unfortunate. Copyrighted material really is a sensitive thing I suppose. (For the record, some of the screencaps/art on the "G-Force" wiki were borrowed off of members on the defunct GA years ago, who've taken their due credit on the pages themselves. No infringement intended, thanks for the pics, contact me if there are any issues!.........don't shoot! Thanks for the DVD rip of the intro as well!) From my dealings with him, he's been a cool and generous guy. In fact, it was thanks to him that I'll segue into the "goodies" I was talking about in my topic title!
Unbeknowst to most (including me), there exist unaired versions of the pilot episodes to "G-Force" (specifically Episodes 18 and 85, or Gatch Episodes 18 and 87) which contain a radically different music score that never made it past the cutting room floor. I figure that some of you are aware that the pilot eps to "G-Force" contain several differences from the rest of the eps ("Gatchaman" music removed completely, replaced with original music from Dean Andre which never made it to the other 83 eps), but these unaired, "pre-production pilots contain a musical score that's different from even the broadcasted versions of the pilot episodes. I first found out about these from a convo with Mr. Hofius years ago, who said he snuck those unaired eps as extras on an Austrailian BotP DVD set (too expensive for me to get my hands on). Thanks to the generosity of gatch72, I've finally been able to view these eps and, well I've written enough, I'll just link to all of the "G-Force" stuff on my account!:

Welcome Dirk. I'm afraid that I've never been able to get into GOS (or Egle Riders for that matter).

Hey! Welcome, fellow Guardians of Space fan!
I recorded most of the eps when Cartoon Network showed them back in the 1990s, but I'm missing the horse mechs ep, the wasp mech/ghost of RI ep, and the whirlwind/Mantis mech ep. But I do have most, and if you look under a (very) few of the Episode of the Week reviews, I have reviews of the relevant GoS eps. (I am soooo far behind on that. But it looks like I'll have a week to make it up! Maybe.)
Welcome to the fun!

Hey there Dirk! So you're Super Adventures on Youtube, I once thought that was James (tatsunokofan here). I have to say your YT page was a huge help to me and other people in finding out about Tatsunoko shows when TvC was announced. Major props to you, good sir.
As for G-Force, I'm one of those late to the party on all the adaptations. I've seen the ADV dub and BotP dub, but when I saw the first episode of G-Force, it just seemed so out of place and awkward I couldn't even finish the episode.
Welcome to the board anyhow
Welcome to the insanity, Dirk.

It's you, SuperAdventures! Glad to have you here! GoS was also my introduction to Gatchaman, but back then in 1995 I didn't have a good first impression of it probably because I wasn't the big anime nut I am today. Who's knows. Plus I prefer ADV Films' 2005 redub of Gatchaman, although I do think Barbara Goodson was the best voice actress for Jun when she played her in GoS, and I'm not just saying that because she did alot of work with one of my idols, the late, great Carl Macek.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Looks like a few of you are familiar with my YT account. I was amongst the first to upload GoS episodes on YT. First it was the eps that I found on eMule years ago (1 & 6), and then the broadcast versions of the pilots from my collection. I don't upload any more eps because with the majority of Gatch (both sub and ADV dub) up on YT, it'd be redundant. Plus, my PC's pretty banged up after dozens of hours of capturing from VHS, mostly from my compilations of circa-1995 Cartoon Network commercials, which were recorded alongside GoS eps.
The word is that Sandy Frank has lost it's license to Gatchaman and it's dubs a couple of years ago. Then again, any possibility of any more GoS episodes being released on DVD (only 13 in total are available on DVD for the record, scattered across several releases) was snuffed out after ADV's uncut Gatchaman release.
For those of you who own/played TvC, is there any mention of Sandy Frank in the credits/copyrights?
None that I'm aware of.

Ooooh, a Condor and he's brought goodies!
Okies, GoS goodies, but since they are still very much our birdies, I'll quite happily take them and run!
And to think - I have the next two days to play with them!
*sigh* I like you....
You are most definitely welcome here! *snigger*

A big Dirk! I too am totally ignorant regarding GoS ... a bit less regarding BOTP, because I'm more into Gatchaman since it was almost the only version I've followed since my childhood! But, I surely like to know more! Thanks for the goodies!

Welcome Dirk D. I, too, don't know much about GoS, but am looking forward to checking out your links. Thanks for sharing.
Welcome, Dirk Daring!
I've been learning a lot about GoS from CondorCandi's recaps, and finding it quite interesting to see how it compares to Gatch and BOTP versions. Thanks for posting links to the unaired pilot episodes -I'll check them out.
Welcome Dirk. It has taken a while for you to make your way to this board. It will be great to have another GOS member here. I know a few other GOS members will be very happy to see you.
Please feel free to wander through the threads and maybe add comments to the episode reviews dealing with the GOS series.

I just got to wondering, Gatch episodes 18 and 87 are unique amongst the rest in that there exist four different versions of it with four distinct soundtracks (the original Gatch episode, the BotP episode, the G-Force pre-production episode, and the G-Force broadcast episode). It'd be a hell of a task to put together a comparison video of all of them!
Speaking of which, I've been mulling making a Gatch/BotP/G-Force compare/contrast vid for ages now, but either haven't had the time or lack the right software (WMM is all I have on my crappy PC, and I HATE THAT PROGRAM). A visual guide to finally silence those who keep mixing up the versions and refuse to read up on Wiki or my video descriptions. ("Yes boneheads, "G-Force" is NOT BotP, so stop whining over the change in voices, character names and the lack of your favorite walking trash-bin of a robot!") Those kind of people rile me up....and then they trash "G-Force" on top of that! All I have to say is that I prefer a droning, repetitive backbeat over that horrid "Ready Room" and near-complete lack of violence. Put that in your space burger and eat it, Tiny, a.k.a "did she come on, OH DID SHE COME ON!"!!!
Some people are just foolish. They're the ones who watch Lord of the Rings and complain about all the cliches and stereotypes, when the reality is that Tolkein unwittingly developed most of those cliches and stereotypes when he wrote the books. Or watch early movies in a genre and bitch when certain expected things don't happen. Or other folly.
Yeah, I'll also take the cardboard boxes over the perky Zark theme (which could be inappropriate) and the add-on animation. I think that if the producers of BotP had had the time to do it right, Zark might have been less annoying. But when you're doing multiple episodes a month because you couldn't get everything lined up until the last minute, you work with what you have.
And, all you people who still want to bitch --

Hello, DIrk!
I have to admit that I always wondered what happened to you when the Gatchaman Archives site went down. How is Aggie doing, and the rest of the family?
It's great to see you here, and to have another G-Force fan. I see you have already begun posting in the episode reviews, and I look forward to reading more of your comments.
