Chatty McChat chat?

As I actually have a bloody weekend off, I was wondering - anybody feel like a chat tomorrow? Tomorrow being, say, 10pm UK time, which make it 8am Oz time, and... something else American and Cannucklehead time.

Interested, but have to figure out the time difference -I think it might be 4:00 pm PST.

10 pm in London would be 2 PM pacific time/ 5PM eastern (if world clock is right).

I'd be interested and should be able to make that time, but it depends on if the kids behave.

Of course, I'm interested!! That would be on Saturday for most of you, but Sunday morning for those of us in Oz.

I take it we'll use the chat room here

And I'll be on the desk at an apartment building inhabited by mostly decent fixed-income folks who just got their government checks.

Darn.

I think the solution to that is called 'Duct Tape'.

god I wish! actually the best is to make sure that they are all occupied or send at least on to Grandma's. Now that is a possibility.

Or across the street. It being Saturday, the neighbors (and their kids) will be home.

I love this neighborhod and little dead end street... Smile

How does this work? I've never been in a chat room before...what does it look like?

In other words, how would I find it if I can be on at that time?

(guess your answer will be a good clue if you want me in on your chat or not...!)

Good question RI. Has anyone used the chatroom here? Do we use the username and password for the boards or do we have to reregister? Would we create a room for us or what? Forgive my ignorance but I've only had any luck with Yahell (scary ain't it?).

I've used the chatroom here before. It works best in IE.

You access it through the protal page - on the menue there is an option for "chat". The direct link to it is CHAT ROOM LINK

Go into that - put in a user name (you don't need a password) and then for the room choose default.

I open the tutorial iin a separate page/window/tab as it tells you what you canuse for icons etc.

Thelink to the chat tutorial is TUTORIAL LINK

I want to try to be a part of it, but I'll have to see if it's too technical for me. Also, I don't use IE, so I may not be able to do it. Oh well, if I can't, while you guys are chatting away, I'll just work on my story.

Posted by RIgirl on 03-07-2010 at 02:31:

Don't feel bad Garnet -- Maddy lost me after "you access it through..."!

I will try, but it may be over my head, as I am not that computer savvy (but I am trying and am willing to learn...)

RI, I just tried it and it is real simple.

Click on Maddy's link above

were it says username: type the name you want seen in the chat room RIgirl, Lee, whatever

two sections below that you'll see Chat room options
where it says default chat rooms, click the arrow and choose default.

Then click chat.

You know, it just occured to me that, while it is a great idea to set up a time that we can all get together, with the chat function so readily available we didn't actually have to do that...

We could chat any time there's more than one of us on board....

It also occured to me that I've been a member now for something like nine months - and I didn't even know there was a chat function!
