My second anime record! Score! I'd love to get my hands on one of those Gatch records too sometime in the future! Well that's one good that's happened to me recently I guess.

Here's pictures of it taken from the auction's page. But I noticed it says BGM on it, and now I'm worried it won't have the show's theme.

Hi all!

I bought that album when it first came out, as well as its subsequent CD reissue. Yes, it does have the theme song, but only the "TV Size" versions used for the actual opening and closing credits of the show, not the full 3 verse versions that were released as an EP single when the show was airing. The majority of the album is Shunsuke Kikuchi's music used during the show itself.

Oh bummer. What a drag.

Hi all!

As someone who enjoyed the music, I did not find this to be a "drag" at all. If all you were really after were the full theme songs, there are much better resources for them, since they have been released on theme song collection CDs numerous times. All you had to do was ask and I could have directed you to any number of them.

I meant it was a drag that the whole theme wasn't on there. Anyway, is this the one you were referring to that has the full version? I'd love to know a place I can get this.

Hi all!

Yes, that is the EP record first released in 1974 with the full versions of the theme songs on it. If you're a vintage vinyl collector and that's the version you want, then your options for finding it are fairly slim (At least not without going to Japan and checking through used record stores). The most obvious method would be searching for it on Yahoo! Japan Auctions. There is usually at least one on there most of the time. At the moment, the only one listed is here:

http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m76387541

To bid on it, you would have to use a proxy service, like Celga.com or Rinkya.com, but those would involve service fees above the costs of the record and shipping itself, so read their explanations of their fees before you bid.

If all you're really after are the songs, and the format isn't as important, then you'll probably have a easier time with CDs. The themes have appeared on a number of CD collections. To make things easier, I'll stick with those that can be purchased new from Amazon.co.jp, since they will ship internationally and ordering information in English can easily be found by clicking on the "Click here to see in English" option in the upper right corner of the page.

So, on Amazon, the full length Hurricane Polymer theme songs can be found on the following CDs:

Tatsunoko Pro. Daizenshu
http://www.amazon.co.jp/ %E3%82%BF%E3%83%84%E3%83%8E%E3%82%B3%E3%83%97%E3%83%AD%E5%A4%A7%E5%85%A8%E9

This is a 3 CD set with themes from Tatsunoko series starting with Space Ace up through the 1989 remake of Honeybee Hutch. Other Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom characters whose themes are in this collection include Genie Hakushon, Gatchaman, Casshan, and Tekkaman (The rights for the Yatterman, Ippatsuman, and Gold Lightan themes are controlled by Nippon Victor, while this set was released by Nippon Columbia, so they aren't included here. Karas was released years after this wset was produced, so he isn't there either).

This is a 2 CD set of themes from the mid-1970s. WHil this set has numerous classic anime and tokusatsu theme songs on it, Hurricane Polymer is the only Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom character to be found here.

A single CD collection of anime themes from the mid-1970s. Once again, Hurricane Polymer is the only Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom character to be found here.

Isao Sasaki 40th Anniversary Greatest Best Song Book

http://www.amazon.co.jp/ISAO-SASAKI-BOOK-Greatest-Best-40th-Anniversa/dp/B00005HP0H/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1277931017&sr=1-7

A 2 CD set of anime themes sung by Isao Sasaki. Along with Hurricane Polymer, you'll find the themes to Casshan and Gatchaman II. You'll also find new performances of the opening to Casshan and the Gatchaman image songs.

Isao Sasaki 45th Anniversary Best

http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%81%95%E3%81%95%E3%81%8D%E3%81%84%E3%81%95%E3%81%8A-45%E5%91%A8%E5%B9%B4%E8%A8%98%E5%BF%B5%E3%83%99%E3%82%B9%E3%83%88-%E9%8A%80%E6%B2%B3%E8%88%AA%E6%B5%B7%E8%AA%8C/dp/B000AHJ8D8/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1277931966&sr=1-19

A single CD collection of Isao Sasaki theme songs. This one included the opening themes from Hurricane Polymer, Casshan, and Gatchaman II, but none of the closing themes.

There are other CDs with the Polymer theme songs on them, but at they are all used discs, and the sellers might not ship outside of Japan, so I didn't list any of them.

Anyway, I hope this will help!

James
