Help/advise needed in purchasing Gatch & Botp items

Hi,
I need some feedback from those who have been were I am now.
I am wanting to purchase( the car tune up can wait a little longer) Gatchaman 1 and OVA, I know I can get them individually on ebay, but I can get them from CrazyEast.com or OtakuCastle.com in box set (did the maths and it seem a better idear, but I have not dealt with these people before)
I have been trying to Get BOTP Collection 1 , with not success (first lot of episodes) I have the rest but am missing these ones (madman do not make them anymore and Rhino was no help) any guidance would be APPRECIATED. (a full box set from amazon.uk is very expensive)

Also looking at (but can't deside, ebay and Amazon are not very descriptive about these items)
Alex Ross; Battle of the Planets Artbook
Battle of the Planet sketchbook; Alex Ross/Image Comics
G-Force:Animated - Jason Hofius, George Khoury

I would like to get "how to draw " books so I can start sketching the characters (my drawing don't look right at the moment)
Any guidance , help, feedback or pushes in other direction greatly appreciated

Littlewolf looks up, ready to hunt and gather, waiting (but she is so young and silly in the Gatchway wisdom) for the great and mighty words from all the knowlegable wise ones

Ebay Australia regularly has the Madman BotP discs come up second hand - have an alert for Battle of the Planets and Gatchaman and you'll get e-mails with the new listings.

The Alex Ross artbook I also got recently through Ebay for $8.00 and the comics come up as well.

G-Force Animated is well worth getting - but if you do get it from Amazon, then also get the OAV through there (less postage costs that way).

I got my Gatch DVD's mostly second hand again through Amazon.

I have the Gatchaman series from CrazyEast. They are bootlegged and translated into English from a third language. And only subbed...

The subs are written as if Yoda was speaking.

And the names have been changed.

All of the names - like bird missiles - magical bird bombs - gotta love that...

But other than that, I do love them - I just can't watch more than a couple at a time because I laugh too much...

G-Force: Animated will give you some nifty background information on Battle of the Planets, including the episode production order and the proper spellings of some of the names.

The artbook is cover art from the comics, and includes a wonderful picture of the Phoenix in its fire mode. Also one of Keyop wearing a gleeful axe-murderer expression on his face.

There is a Gatchaman movie from 1978, which is almost entirely footage from a few Gatchaman I episodes mashed together to make one film. But that description makes it seem like they got the title wrong! ROFL 2

The Breaking the Habit video (there was a Wanted Dead or Alive one too) was a fan-made video, so I don't think there's anywhere else to get it, unless you could track down the creator and have them send it to you.

Hi all!

The DVDs from Otakucastle.com are all Hong Kong bootlegs, with the same poorly translated English subtitles Green mentioned (The third language is Chinese, by the way. The strange names are an English translation of the Chinese names for things), and no English dubbed options.

The Gatchaman movie DVD they offer is the Gatchaman feature film. Again, a bootleg, but if it's the version I've seen, the subtitles are vastly superior to the job done on the TV series sets. And, of course, no English dub track, only straight Japanese audio.

Littlewolf, I got the OVA from CrazyEast as well. It's a bootleg, but available with dubs. It's quite good... and if I remember correctly, only about $20...

Hi all!

Their OAV bootleg was a copy of the one released in the U.S. by Urban Vision, hence the English dub. The bootleggers just added Chinese subtitles for their Hong Kong release.

I'd be careful buying bootlegs - I remember hearing not too long ago that Aus Customs have been targetting pirate DVD's.

I have no doubt that they know who the suppliers are and catch them as the come into the country.
