Gatchaman GR Pachislot Game

Hi all!

It was only a matter of time, I suppose. After two pachinko games and a pachislot game in past years, a new Gatchaman pachislot game is being released by Okazaki on June 17th.

The game is titled "Gatchaman GR," with the GR standing for "God Rush," which is part of the game play.

The website promoting the game opened on the 21st, and can be found here:

http://www.okazakisangyo.com/slot/gmngr/index.html

The site doesn't have too much on it right now, just two of the eight listed pages (Aside from the home page) are currently up. One page is some of the features for the game, and the other is a page willed with downloadable images from the game, showing the game icons, character drawings, artwork from various images from the videogame portion of the gameplay, and a .pdf file of the promotional pamphlet.

The images you see here are a small sample of what can be found in the download section. As you can see, some of the artwork isn't great, but some of it is quite nice, so this section might be worth your time to look through. I'm sure the other links on the site will become active in the weeks to come.

The game will, sadly, only be available in pachinko parlors in Japan, but I figured you'd still like to know about it.

Cool! ITA most of the artwork is great! That one of Joe is a little odd...

I'm always excited to hear about anything new for Gatch! Especially if it comes with new artwork! Thanks, James!

Ooh, that looks awesome!!!! I wish they'd have those games available here. I'll bet I could even convince you to go to Vegas, James, if you could play the game there. Wink

Thank you for sharing this information.

I agree, some of the art is very nice! I especially like the one of Joe and the Devil Star. Thanks for posting this, James.

Hi all!

If you like those pictures, then you'll like the others that are on the site. Like I said, these are only a sampling of what they have there to download.

James - I went to the site but only one area was available and there was no artwork there.

I love what you've posted here though! Yeah - the one of Joe and the Devilstar is outstanding! So is the Jun action one.

I love most of the artwork. I agree, Springie - that one of Joe is just, um.... yeah...

Strange as it might seem, my favourite is the one of the GodPhoenix. Just can't beat the original when it's that good!

Thanks for sharing, James! It's always nice to hear about something new about Gatch which so abides with the original! I agree that most of the artwork is awesome ... that one of Joe's, not so much! Apart from the pics of the members of the SNT, IMO even that one of Dr Nambu is great!

No, there are two, as designated by being white instead of shaded. The upper one is the Features one, the bottom one is the downloads. Clicking on it will take you to a accept or decline their conditions (That the material only be used to promote their game, that it not be used in a manner insulting to the game or their company, that you include a (C)タツノコプロ (C)NBGI (C)OKAZAKI in public uses of their images, that you can resize the images, but must maintain their aspect ratio, and violation of these conditions could lead to legal actions against you). Click on the red "Accept" button on the bottom of the page, and you go to the download page.

Thank you James ---- I got as far as the download, but I was afraid something nasty might be placed on my computer so I stopped. When I get a chance i will allow the download to go further.

Boy, wouldn't that do a number of Okazaki's reputation if they did that! No, all you're downloading are files that each have a couple dozen images like those I posted here. The files come in either .ai format or .jpg format. Pretty much the only one that's different is the .pdf file for the game booklet.

Yesterday Okazaki held a press presentation for the game in the Science and Technology Museum in Chiyoda. Pictures from the event can be found here:

Hi all!

In case none of you have been keeping an eye on it, Okazaki has been slowly updating their site by opening up new sections. The latest update opens up the "Bonus" section, which includes a trio of short videos (Sadly, very small sized short videos) of some of the bonus battle rounds where the God Phoenix is fighting various Iron Beasts.

The goal during these battles is to get the required objects to appear in the slot portion of the game (Cherries or watermelons or whatever they happen to call for that time around). If you get them, you can defeat the enemy and get a bonus.

So, if you want to see a little of the gameplay in action, head to the website at:

http://www.okazakisangyo.com/slot/gmngr/index.html

Once you're there, click on the "Bonus" section from the menu on the left side of the screen, and the videos can be found at the bottom of the page.

NEat! Thanks for pointing this out, James!

ANd I discovered that you have to keep watching. The videos look like they have finished, but then it will start up again! You have to wait until you see Ken on the Bridge of the God Phoenix, before it's over.

Hi all!

The Gatchaman GR site (http://www.okazakisangyo.com/slot/gmngr/index.html) has opened up their final section, showing the various game stages and some of their different aspects. These video game portions only become part of the game play once you've activated them through getting the proper combination of numbers in the slot portion of the game. These include 5 different stages.

The Common Game Stage:

The Snack Jun Stage:

The Hontwal Coast Stage:

The Gallactor Base Stage:

And the Governor X Stage:

Obviously, the video game portion is a major selling point for these games, or else they'd be little more than your standard slot machine. So, the game is a double challenge -- you need to get good enough (Or lucky enough) at the slot portion to activate the video game, and good enough (Or lucky enough, since the randomness of the slot portion usually plays a part in determining your success) at the video game to acomplish your goals.
