Wonderpants!

Oh, my goodness. I logged onto the site today and was immediately awed at what I saw. There, through my monitor, I could see someone sitting. The person looked normal, except for one thing. His pants!

They were incredible. My eyes lingered on the fine detailing of the seams.

Truly, sitting before me, was Wonderpants! Such an honor.

...

Heh. Big Grin Welcome to the board. Tell us all about yourself (deep, dark secrets are optional ^_~) and enjoy the wonderful little trap that is Gatchamania. Prepare to become insane.

May your pants have mercy on us all.

Take your eyes off my seams! Thank you.....

OK, lemme see:
I'm in the UK, male, and currently rediscovering Battle of the Planets as a 20something, having vague memories of watching the toon as a kid.

Seeing the BOTP 7" and 12 Mark/Jason figures brought it all back for me, and I eventually ended up buying Princess (there's something about a short skirt and thigh high boots that does it for me every time).

And then I discovered the 12" Princess figure....

In between buying the Princesses and flipping through the BOTP comics in my local Forbidden Planet, I found my way here via the Topcow BOTP forum. //takes a bow

There were discussions in a couple of threads there that caught my eye, namely toy feather shurikens being mentioned (These would be great for 12" Princess, whose major flaw is a lack of weapons), and Gatchaman doujinshi, whatever that might be.
Anyone got any info on either of those two?

I just want to say welcome Wonderpants to this addicitive little sight. I hope you like it here.

Doujinshi is the Japanese term for published fan-made manga. Some of it's good, some of it...er, anyways...

Top Cow forum, eh? I bet you're excited about the mini-series featuring Princess that's coming up. Course, as far as I know, they don't even have an estimate as to when it'll be out. Still, page after page of our favorite heroine. ^_^

Ta muchly, all.

Anyone got any Doujinshi links?

And this is something that I've been wondering about for a while: Where did Princess get green hair from (as seen in the comics and a lot of fan art), when she had black hair in the toon?

Posted by Cep on 11-07-2004 at 21:13:

Ola Wonderpants, I remember there was a discussion about Prin's hair being multicoloured somewhere on the forums but can't for life of me remember exactly....lets just say we had some interesting theories! Big Grin

Jun's hair is mostly dark green, but depending on the lighting (and the quality of the colorist) it seems to range from black to a very solid green color.

re/doujinshi - i have it from Sayuri that most of the doujin are very old (as in, twenty years from when Gatchaman first came out) and are impossible to find now. i've done a bit of looking myself but if they're out there, they're buried.

Doujinshi turn up on the yahoo japan auctions. The Mask series and El Condor Pasa most often, since they're so much more recent than the others. Then yaoi and hentai ones more rarely, and most rarely of all ones which don't look as if they're about sex!

Actually, that makes it look as if El Condor Pasa is all about sex, but that one's got no sex in it.

true .. i'd forgotten about the yahoo auctions. i guess i automatically write them off because most (if not all) don't ship outside of Japan and i havent gotten off my lazy duff to find a buyer there who will handle the transaction.

NinjaSam's had success with that, but i think if i get another package that is postmarked from Japan i'll be disowned.

Celga are reliable. The extra charges really add up though, not that I'm complaining about their commission rates because they're quite reasonable. But it really bumps up the cost of whatever you're buying.

Well, I remember some of those theories. Snicker.

I also recall that it goes back to something I read on the cost of ink.

As mentioned before, black ink costs much more than colored ink. So Japanese anime artists popularized non-black (read: non-japanese) colored hair. Purple, blue, orange, red, pink, and yes, green. The first season of Gatch has our Junnie with black hair, but later seasons, due to cost effective measures I am guessing, changed her hair green.

Makes sense to me anyway.

Here I thought it was so us fanfic writers could come up with theories.

Welcome to the board, WonderPants.

Oh Im sure Wonderpants will get to find that out about now...wont he?

*slowgrins..and backs wonderpants towards the Frisking room..*

Hello..Breakfast!..*evil grin*

Welcome to the Board..Quite a nice intro there wonderpants and good questions!..you even had ME of all people trying to search for those doushinjis and toy shurikens!!

got to admit the pic in this thread of the toy shurikens as well as the screencaps of the G3 in her wonderful array of hair colours are simply droolworthy!

Best I can come up with is for you to go through http://www2.angulang.org.uk/ to find the various merchandise/figurine links especially via the Japaneses sites..they are a MUST esp for doushinji searching..
!!

Very rare to find any doushinji's for sale..though I found THIS at Hobbylink Japan :
http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?GIN77016

And throwing this link for your perusal and enjoyment
It the Gatchaman Goodies Page..Love looking at these pages..

http://www.gatchamangoods.com/page3.html

Enjoy and knock yourself out if you havent viewed the above sites before..

If you have...then lets check those chompers of yours..and lets see whose bite is worse. *smirk* im not adverse to some pleasurable nips and nibbles ..and im dying to try some wonderpanties on you as well as those wonderpants...

*Smile spreads into one heck of a sly grin as Wonderpants is whisked into Frisking Room, door locking behind them.. Sneeky

Ooh, so Gatchaman Material is back in stock? A very nice picture book, but also quite a lot of frustratingly unreadable text. Unless you read japanese, in which case it's packed with useful information.
