So how was your Friday the 13th?

Mine wasn't too bad. I managed to avoid the 'bad luck', for the most part. Wink

Me, too...today was pretty uneventful...I did manage to get out for dinner tonight after being shut into my house for three days (for those of you who don't know, I'm in Virginia, where the Nor'easter hit and stayed...and stayed...and stayed...rain, wind and flooding all over the place...but I was unaffected, luckily)...Bounce2

I totally forgot that it was Friday the 13th yesterday! I was so loaded with work that it really was the last thing that could get to my mind! ... until late at night when most programmes on tv were based on myths, mysteries, hauntings, etc....!

Thinking of it, yesterday was one of those days that could be called "bad" days when everything turns out wrong! First of all, having so much work to do I was already bugged by the fact that, from all of the days, my children had only two hours at school instead of their normal hours due to a teachers' meeting! Second, my five-year-old son walked over a dog's poop without me noticing it, first thing in the morning ... I only noticed it when he had a row with his younger sister and smudged it all over her school's raincoat just in front of school! Fortunately enough I always have wipes at hand and other things for such emergencies in my handbag! Third, after an exhausting day, my parents-in-law came to our house and they literally said and done things the opposite of how I wish to educate my children (please note that I have nothing against my parents-in-law but they are one of those couples who do not aid because they do not want to and they literally do nothing all the day, but then, they always say things like they are the only ones that know everything!). Fourth, my daughter developed a fever just in the evening and wet her bed, a thing that she haven't done for more than a year! Can I list these things under "Bad Luck"?

Not as bad as some days, worse than others .....

Although I did get a free upgrade to the next OSX when I took my computer in have it looked at. So my Mac should have a top of the line operating system, for now. animepompom

Whoo hoo, CD! WTG on the latest OSX!

Oh no, Marie! Huggles As a Mom, I can completely sympathize with those thing. I have terrible in-laws as well. I hope that your daughter is feeling better today, and that you get a chance to relax this weekend.

Yes, Gatchamarie, that sounds like some bad luck! I hope things are better today.

Me, I spent a long day at work and got home late, but nothing "unlucky" happened to me (or if it did, I haven't noticed yet...)

It wasn't until well into the afternoon that I even made the "Friday the 13th" connection, though!

Posted by gatchamarie on 14-11-2009 at 19:13:

Thanks for all your sympathy and hugs ... they did help a lot! Thinking about it, mine was only another day like others with its ups and downs and I'm sure that all of us have those days and I'm not the exception ... if only troubles like mine during the past day were the only ones that could happen in the world! In that case life overall would almost be plain sailing and not the misery and suffering that we see and hear about! Leaving the past behind, today was a whole lot better! Thanks God, my daughter only had a 24 hour bug and today she was as lively as ever! We even had the chance to go out in the countryside ... I find nature helps a lot to make you feel better! Clients were satisfied with my work and the best part is that I got paid! Regarding my parents-in-law ... well now I'm used to their behaviour but some days, meaning the stressful ones, I literally can't take it and find myself biting my tongue continuously in order not to spill out all the words that come to the rim! Huggles to you all!

Glad to hear she's better Marie. Ain't it funny how kids get over those things so quickly.

Yesterday was Friday the 13th? Well, it was better than Saturday the 14th (that movie was awful), and today was a lot worse than yesterday. Won't get into the details but I was woke up with by a friend who lives in a soap opera of her own creation and the kids did nothing but fight and whine. I think I want some wine.

I live in northern Virginia. We didn't get the noreastern (formerly known as Hurricane Ida) as badly as the coast, but we got four days of rain.

I spent Friday praying my son's flag football playoffs schedued for today would be postponed. No such luck. He had a game scheduled for 8 AM. It was still drizzling and the field had inches of standing water all over it and it was about 53 degrees F. I can't believe they held the games.

On the bright side, Alex's team won and although everyone was soaked, muddy and cold, no one got hurt. They played again at 11, the field was even worse after 2 other games and they lost, but again, no one was hurt.

Cool! Another Virginian on the board! I live near the coast...near Virginia Beach...it was so awful here...I'll be so happy to see the sun again!

I can't believe your games were held either...that's hard core! It's good that no one was hurt!

I saw a picture of one .... my friend was making posters of her missing cat.

Besides, didn't you know Ebony, black cats are lucky. Wink

I'm not a superstitious person.

My mother was born on a Friday the 13th, so I consider it a good day.

I love black cats.

I walk under ladders on purpose.

I've never broken a mirror, so I can't address that one.

I love haunted houses on Halloween.

I can't think of any others.

CD, I hope your friend finds her cat and tell her not to give up.

We lost our gold retriever while bear hunting when I was in college in central West Virginia. Yeah, I used to be into hunting when sitting out in a cold, wet field or forest didn't bother me. We had friends who trained dogs to hunt bear, cougars, bobcats, etc, so we used to go with them. They trained our black lab and gold retriever.

We looked for months and advertised in the papers in that area, etc. We'd never had an indentification on him. Hadn't even thought about it.

Out of the blue while in the area the following year, we came across another group of hunters. The gold retriever they had with them took one look at us and made a beeline for us. It was our dog - we could tell because he had a weird birth mark on his pink nose.

The other hunters told us they had found him with a cut paw and took care of him but were unable to find his owners. Guess they never saw our advertisements in the papers.

So we got him back but never took him hunting again. No reason to tempt fate.

And for the record, I never shot any of those animals. Now I'm not even sure why I used to go.

Sorry to hear about your dog, I know I would be very sad to loose my dog, but I am glad you found him and returned him even a year later.

Nothing much happened to me this weekend.

I have a stray cat that I'm taking care of until I can find her a home. My cat has gotten sort of used to her. They're on either end of the bed right now.
