Cheer me up!

Sounds like an order, but its more of a plea.

Leading up to Dragon Con I was busy making costumes but that was okay because I had the energy and had a fun time in Atanta with friends.

Since we got back and the last trimester began, everything has gone to pot. My employer has called in the receivers and is insolvent, I havent been paid but have to carry on working. Am I being made redundant ? how does this effect my maternity pay & Leave? No one can tell me, I'm stuck in limbo.

OR am I being transfered under TUPE to his new company, working from home after maternity leave and still getting paid?

Frankly with 10 weeks to go I could do without the stress and the fact the lazy employer is handing the work load from the insolvency over to me rather than do it himself.

On the bright side, I did become an aunt for the first time yesterday !

Veritas, congrats for your becoming an aunt for the first time yesterday and sorry for hearing about the rough time that you're going through! Hope things will turn out better as time passes by and everything returns to normal for you! Life can be hard at times, especially when things go wrong because of others and not becuase of you! It's full of ups and downs and we tend to give more importance to the negative things! Try to remember the better times to cheer you up and just take things as they come day by day, at the same time not staying idle but trying to work a possible way out from the burdening situation. Perhaps some Huggles could help and don't forget about Gatchaman ... your fantasy can be a way to temporarily escape from the world!

I had been wondering how you were doing, Veritas. How did DragonCon go? Did everyone like your Katse costume?

I am sorry to hear about your employment issues. I agree, it's not something you need in your last trimester! Huggles I'll cross my fingers that it gets resolved for you soon. At least, it would be good to know, one way or the other!

The good thing is that if the boss is giving you this much work, he's going to *really* miss you when you're gone.

As Marie says, Gatchaman is a great escape. I hope roaming around this site for a little while helps relieve some of the stress you're feeling.

Veritas- I saw your announcement about being an aunt on FB- that is so exciting!

I hate to hear that you are being stressed out...I'm sending a virtual hug your way Huggles. Have you talked with your boss about it?

In the meantime, just try to focus on the future...you have so many wonderful times ahead of you with your baby!

Congratulations on being an Aunt Veritas - but I am sorry to hear about your work stresses. Hopefully after that little "rant" you are feeling at least a little better. Would sending over the Condor help? Or would that add to your stress, seeing as he might decide to take matters into his own hands.

Sending you a giant hug Grouphug and hoping it will make you feel better.

Hi Verits,

Sorry to hear they're mucking you around, only ten weeks to go!!! Its okay to let off a little some steam, thats why we have a rant section.

The only people who get paid maternity leave here (NSW Aust.) its aprox 3 months. Are government employee's. Teahers, medical workers etc...

Veritas, it's cool that you're becoming an aunt and a mother in such a close span of time -your child and your new niece or nephew will be close in age, and you'll have people in your family to swap child-raising stories with who will know exactly what you're talking about. baby2 I have a cousin who is almost the same age as me, that I would see every summer, and we were best buddies.

As for your employer... You're not getting paid but you have to keep working (and are being given extra work)? I'm no expert in the rules and regulations of insolvency (or maternity leave), in any country, but that sure doesn't sound very fair! If your employer can't or won't give you any straight answers, I wonder if there's a government agency or person(s) of a legal persuasion who can advise you what your rights are in this sort of situation?

You certainly have a happy event to look forward to, in ten weeks, though! Huggles

Cheers guys, I just needed to vent a bit.

Times just flown by since DC. I did the parade in the katse costume and there were quite a few 'hail galactor' shouts from the crowd, which was nice.
Later on, being stopped for pics and talking to people they did a double take realising I was female ( I guess the bump didnt show that bad) and quite a few liked the fact that 'zoltar' was 'gender' correct.
I did recommend if they liked BOTP, they watch the originals.

On sunday I wore a farscape peacekeeper wars costume because the charactor, Grayza, was pregnant. And I went over to chat with the farscape guests. They liked it so much they took a picture and sent a txt to the actress who played Grayza. She replied it was the best costume of her she'd seen and fully authentic, that was a good laugh.

Ahhh happy days.

Yeah morale is non existent. Despite not being paid, we have to keep coming into work until it is officially closed by the receivers and we are made redundent. If we dont come in, we are deemed to have left / resigned and there fore not eligable for redundency payments!

And as we havent yet been made redundent and are still employed, the gov doesnt want to know.

Having the condor around would be handy. Usually I'd say for a bit of 'comfort' but actually I'd prefer him to beat the crap out of my boss, whose mis management caused all this.

Life: rock

Hope things get better for you and you can find a decent new job. And that your boss grows a brain (for the sake of his future employees, if any). Things are tough all over.

I remember the big question raised in 'The Alien Bigfoot' was whether or not Zoltar was actually female, based entirely on the long hair. (Alara Rogers ran with that in her BotP fics on ff dot net.) I'm sure the VAs had a good chuckle over that one.

So I'll deduce that you are a tall, long-legged beauty who can wear tights and get away with it.

Me? I would scare people if I wore tights. I'm built like a female Ryu. Unfortunately, I can't punch a line of goons and make them fall down. That would be awesome.

Maybe next year I can hit DragonCon. Let us know if/when you'll be there. Those of us who can make it could show up. We'll need a secret handshake or something to identify ourselves.

Sounds like DragonCon is a great place to be! For years a number of us have been meeting at the San Diego Comic Con, but a lot of people have been going to Dragon Con as well. I'd love to attend, but Labor Day weekend is a bad time for me, especially since it takes me a full day to fly out and back. But you never know...

I'm glad your costume went over so well, Veritas! FWIW, I wore the Number 3 shirt you made for me to Comic Con this year with some red and white Uncle Sam pants, and got some nice comments. James and Barrdwing liked it as well!

Hopefully things will get better at work. Regardless, less than 10 weeks of that madness to go, right? Huggles
