Thank you. While I'm new to the fandom, I've been a fan of the show since I was eight.

Welcome Amethyst!!

I see you are joining the Condor clan, and another teacher and writer as well.

Yes, and unfortunately a teacher in California which means I get to spend a second year scrounging for sub jobs. It is wonderful to be an English teacher in a state that only cares for math and science (though I'm about halfway to a science supplemental which is very ironic as I barely passed high school science).

I had to join the Condor clan, as Jason was my favorite growing up watching BotP; however as I watch the original Gatchaman I'm finding that I like Joe just as much, maybe even more. When I can afford the CDs I'd really like to do a character analysis of the original Joe (with subtitles), the Dubbed Joe, and Jason and how they are similar yet very different. Which is strange because it I wouldn't have thought that the voice would make that much difference, particularly since I understand maybe six words in Japanese, but there is a definite difference.

With the original Gatchaman and the Gatchaman OAVs, I found the voices really annoying and prefer to watch it with subtitles which is better.

Out of the original Joe and Jason, I think Jason is my favourite Condor.

Welcome, Amethyst! I am a teacher in California as well! Wink Are you from Northern or Southern CA? Are you going to the San Diego Comic Con? A few of us are meeting up there next week.

I too was a huge fan of BOTP at age 8, and only discovered the existence of Gatchaman recently. From there, it was a short step into the fandom...

I'm glad to see you posting!

Amethyst, sorry to hear about your job problem. Here is Canada (or maybe just Ontario) there are also difficulties for teachers looking for jobs. Fortunately I already have a contract job, so do not have to worry about that, but I have met a lot, a few of them are volunteering in my class or school, of teachers who are on lists just so they can supply teach in the schools. They are waiting until the boards open up again and they will be able to obtain a contract position.

TJ -- Northern. An hour north of San Francisco in the Wine Country. I wish I could go to Comic Con, but I couldn't even afford to go to Azkatraz (Harry Potter Fandom) and I wouldn't have even needed a hotel room. Bart or the Ferry would have dropped me right were I needed to be (I'll drive anywhere except SF).

BTW -- I've been enjoying your stories at Gatchfanfic.

Aren't her stories great!
Have you see she has just started a new series?

I'm in Northern CA too! East Bay/Alameda County... I'm flying down for Comic Con next week. I haven't been to Napa/Sonoma in ages... probably because it's the kind of thing we do when we have visitors who want to go there. In fact, Springie and CD were visiting me last year and we were talking about going up. We put it on our 'to-do' list for next time they come out. Big Grin

Glad you're enjoying my fics! It's amazing how quickly I used to write them, but then, they used to be much shorter... this new fic I just started is coming up on 150,000 words, if you include all three parts... Erm2

Bigkiss to you, CD, for the plug! Huggles

Oh, and I should point out that CD herself has a wonderful AU, although she's only posted a couple of fics so far. Poke Angel1

TJ its easy for a story to grow, but them the plot sounds like it needed it.

She does write fantastic stories! Got that one spot on Amethyst

Cloud is going to try and ignore TJ's prod for another week or so. (FIngers start tapping at the keys in anticipation and muses start yelling. "No, there is no time just yet." Cloud whispers back. "I have two more assignments to finish and THEN I can let you out again. Please, hold out just another 10 days, my muses.")

Welcome, Amethyst! It's great to have another writer and fan over here. You are correct that TJ writes some great fics.

Hope to get to chat more later.
