Voice of Jinpei in New Gatchaman Film

Now, the voice of Jinpei has been added to the liist at IMDb. His name is Colin Ford, a 12-year old actor. Nice to know he's actually a boy, and close to Jinpei's ageSurprise .

What a cutie! I have to say, from what I've seen so far, his voice certainly fits Jinpei...

I'm wondering where they are getting these names for IMDB. Are they actually recording voices already? I wonder...

That article has issues. It still claims the film is directed by Kevin Munroe. Sigh...

Hi all,

I saw that IMDB had added an actor for Jinpei a few days ago, and knew this would come up sooner or later.

I've said it before, and I'm sure I'll have to say it again, but do not believe any of the voice cast information that is currently on IMDB. If the film had actual cast members in place, Imagi would have announced it, if anything just to show they were actively working on the project. But, as of now, they have not and do not. What you are seeing is nothing more than the wish list of actors from someone who is feeding information to IMDB (Which, as you pointed out, still claims Kevin Munroe is Directing, not to mention that Robert Mark Kamen and Paul Dini are still writing the script).

You need to bear in mind that IMDB gets its information from a variety of sources, not the least of which are from "trusted sources" that are nothing more than people who post on their message boards frequently enough that IMDB deems them "trustworthy." From the look of things, the actors listed there are little more than someone's "dream cast" for a live-action Gatchaman movie, not an animated film.

Look at the main voice cast for Astro Boy a stop and think about it for a second. They have name actors -- Nathan Lane, Donald Sutherland, Kristen Bell, Nicolas Cage, Bill Nighy, and Freddie Highmore (Whose work I'm unfamiliar with, but he apparently is quite popular with the young-teen-girl set) -- people who you may have actually heard of. When they finally do cast their Gatchaman movie, they will follow the same pattern by casting known actors in the lead roles. They won't do this necessarily because these actors are better than other relatively unknown actors, but because these names will put more people in movie theater seats. And they certainly wouldn't be casting actors because they happen to look like what someone might imagine the characters should look like.

Now, assuming Astro Boy does well enough in the box office that Imagi can keep going (Always a concern, considering what the company went through earlier this year), it would be likely that we would begin to see some official information regarding the film in the next 6~8 months. Naming a Director and a Writer would be the likely start, not casting the film, since the Director usually has some say in who his cast will be. So, until then, just ignore what's being listed on the IMDB.

Yes I remember you mentioning that before James, that is why I have not been jumping for joy at this news.

I think /I/ have learned that if James makes the announcement then I will trust the information. Anyone else, is just wishful thinking.....

I don't believe everything on IMDb either, but I just thought it would be something to talk about. I hope I didn't mislead anyone...

Thats fine its good to have some leads on who might be doing the voices for the team.

If I recall, whoever is posting these people on IMDB as voice actors named David Oyelowo as the voice actor for Dr. Nambu weeks before any info. that I'm aware of was available saying that Dr. Nambu's character would be African or of African descent in the movie. This, of course, is certainly no proof that David Oyelowo (or anyone else listed on IMDB) will get the part(s) as I agree that Imagi will surely try to get more famous and well-known actors for all the major roles but it does suggest that at at least one person posting these things on IMDB might have access to some information about the movie before it becomes more widely known, as it seems that whoever is posting voice actors for the Gatchaman movie on IMDB is picking actors who look like the characters as they appear in the movie (even though they're voice-only roles).

Well...some of us have known about that for a good 18 months or more now, and I'm certain that I'm not the only one. Heck, I remember references to "Samuel L. Nambu" at Comic Con last year. It was a "secret," but not one that was impossible to discover.

Will have to listen when I get a few more moments. Thanks for the link though.
