Voice of Jun for New Gatchaman Movie

According to IMDb, a lady by the name of Emmanuelle Chriqui is rumored to have been cast as Jun for the new Gatchaman movie.

Emmanuelle's Interview on Youtube (not related to Gatch)

Very pretty lady. BTW, I saw Tony Danza for the first time since "Who's the Boss?" At first, I couldn't recognize him.

Wow the hair is right!! She's got the Swan's long glossy ebony tresses...and beautiful!
It was harder to tell if I liked her voice. But her giggle was Swannie like!

Thanks for the link.

Ebony, what difference does how she LOOK make if she is going to be the voice actor? j/k It is nice to see see some resemblance though, but /I am/ not sure I would trust this news until I hear that the Movie is really going to being made.

Hey, she's a Canadian! That's cool. It does just say she's "rumored" to be Jun, so I guess we can't be too sure yet.

She sure does resemble Jun. I know with CGI they sometimes use people as templates for the CGI characters' facial expressions and such -I wonder if Jun will end up looking somewhat like her.

Look who's "rumored" to be Dr. Nambu's voice.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0654648/

I see he's from England -if he does get Nambu's role, I wonder if he'll use an English accent, or something else.

Exactly! Anything that the IMDB has regarding the cast for this film is either a rumor or simply inaccurate. You'll notice that they still list Kevin Munroe, Robert Mark Kamen, and Paul Dini as being involved with the project, and they've all been off of it for a year or more. So, take anything you see there with a very large grain of salt.

I had not noticed that James, but thank you for pointing out those obvious mistakes I had certainly missed them. I guess this was an old article from several years ago. (Shows what happens when sites do not get updated regularly.)

Very true. I remember closely following all the rumors, especially casting rumors, surrounding the then-upcoming Lord of the Rings movies in 1999 -most of which proved wrong.

Posted by Transmute Jun on 20-05-2009 at 22:27:

But chances are, ONE of these far out rumors will end up being true, and then in 2025 (when the movie is finally released) we can all say, 'See? I knew it all along!' tomatoes

I am going to try to think positive that the movie will come in 2010, as for the cast well, Im happy to wait and see

To be frank, unless there is a lot more going on behind the scenes than has been announced anywhere, the notion of seeing an Imagi-made Gatchaman movie in 2010 is becoming more and more unrealistic with each passing day.

Using Astro Boy as a yardstick, the Director for that film was announced on January 25, 2008, with the writer and the first actors being announced in February of 2008. That film will finally see the light of day on October 23, 2009, a mere two days shy of 21 months after the Director was announced. Assuming their Gatchaman movie would require a similar timeframe, production would have had to have been underway by the end of March, 2009 for a release date even as late as December of 2010.

With no official announcements of anyone actually working on this film, it's a pretty safe bet that Gatchaman has been placed on the back burner for now. Considering the financial difficulties Imagi suffered earlier this year, it's very likely that all of their available resources are being put into Astro Boy. Any future productions from Imagi will probably depend on the success or failure of Astro Boy.

Assuming that Astro Boy does well in the box office, I would supect that the earliest we could see a Gatchaman movie is late in 2011. If Astro Boy is a major failure... Well, if that happens, there may not be an Imagi studio to make a CG Gatchaman movie. So let's hope for the best!

WHAT!!! no way can we wait that long for it to be released...TJ you just made feel or Condor towards the producers....Ebony pulls out a shuriken and begins to chew on it while growling...

Tats does that mean we all rush to see Astro boy just to help boost the figures at the box office so they get on with Gatchaman sooner...is that the plan? Wink

Could it be that with Astroboy being the movie out this year tehy are trying to focus attention on that rather than release details about Gatchaman?

It couldn't hurt.

That would seem very, very unlikely. If serious work was being done on the film by a staff that was firmly in place, they would want to generate advance publicity for the film by announcing who that staff was. To keep it a secret would just hobble the film's chances for that publicity, and would be foolish on their part.

For what it's worth, I fully intend to go see Astroboy, and I know my sister will too (and she will likely take her son) as she has very fond memories of watching it on very early morning TV in her college days in late 80s Eastern Canada. I want to see Astroboy, out of curiousity and to support Imagi (I still feel guilty for never going to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!)

Posted by gatchgirl on 22-05-2009 at 03:28:

I did see TMNT, and found it to be rather fun to watch. Even though I really have no idea about Astroboy, I will still watch, if in hopes that Gatch will soon follow.

I have noticed that when I watched some show about movies to come this summer, Astroboy wasn't mentioned. Shrug

That would be because Astro Boy isn't coming out this Summer. It's coming out in the Fall. October 23rd, to be exact.

I noticed in the latest San Diego Comic Con progress report that Imagi will be among the exhibitors again this year. I suspect that their booth will be similar to last year, with a completely Astro Boy theme, but at least those of us who are there will have the opportunity to ask them about Gatchaman.

With Astro Boy being released 3 months after the convention, I suspect that they'll have some sort of preview panel for it during the Comic Con as well. Hopefully it will be more than simply showing the trailer for the film, like they did as Wondercon in February.

And, speaking of Comic Con, I see that, as of today, Thursday has now joined Friday, Saturday, and 4-Day memberships on the sold out list. Sunday memberships are 80% sold out, and likely won't last much longer. If any of you are planning to attend and haven't bought a membership, do so quickly! They can be found at the con website at:
