Spring Storms

Well, we sure had some excitement tonight...a tornado hit our house! Luckily, everyone is ok, but I was home alone with the kids...and I got them into the bathtub! In the meantime...I was running around chasing after the puppy!

Oh my God!! I'm glad your family's okay, Springie. I hope you can get the roof shingles repaired quickly. Tornadoes are truly scary! I still remember my first summer in Ohio, coming from Nova Scotia (where tornadoes are unheard of -heck, even thunderstorms are rare) and feeling more than a little alarmed when I was told they weren't uncommon in the Midwest...

Yeah that is scary...its like it skimmed the top of the house but landed else where. Did any of the neighbours have damage from it too?

Buster now has a new nickname...Totto!

Did your house land on a witch by any chance and her sister said that she will get you and your little dog as well?

Springie, I am happy to hear that you and your family are all safe.
I hope you can get things repaired quickly.

(I always find it funny that down there in the USA they tell you to hide in your Bath tubs and yet up here we go down to our basements.)

Haha...we're renaming our dog Toto! It's really big news to have a tornado around here...and the local news is doing a broadcast from our backyard! Too funny...the kids are soooo excited!

We have a tarp on our roof right now. When the weather breaks, we'll be able to repair it.

Around here, we are at (or even below) sea level...so we don't have basements...

You also do not have to have about basements because you do not have to deal with the shifting of the ground that occurs from deep frosts.

I'm glad everyone is ok and the house is still standing! I have lived in the midwest for 2 years and I am still terrified of tornados. We just don't have that kind of weather where I grew up in NJ - sure hurricanes, but we had days notice they were coming and I didn't live near the water.

I also can't believe you had the presence of mind to snap pictures of the thing. I'd probably be in the bathtub for days after that! (My house doesn't have a basement either).

I didn't take the tornado pics...I got them off of the local newschannel webpage...I actually didn't realize that the tornado had hit my house until after it passed!

I just knew that the wind suddenly got really loud! I thought maybe there was a tornado close by...but later, when things died down, the neighbors came to check on us and told me about my roof!
