Tokyo International Anime Fair 2009

Hi all!

Felix Ip's Blog (http://felixip.blogspot.com/) has a brief write-up regarding the Tokyo International Anime Fair 2009 that was held this weekend. Tatsunoko had a booth there, showing off some of the new product lines regarding their progams (Such as the Yatterman TV series, Casshan Sins, Mach Girl, and even the live action Yatterman movie).

The write-up also shows the small display for Gatchaman, mostly promoting the current release of the series on DVD. The display sported a small poster from Imagi showing what Felix says is an image of Joe. Figuring that you'd all like to see it, here's that picture:

Hopefully a larger version of that poster will appear elsewhere soon!

That looks great! And I love the picture of Joe! Clearly updated, but also clearly the Joe we know!

And where can I get those toys? Big Grin

I've gotta have that poster! (and those toys!)

Thanks for the update James!

P.S. underneath the Gatchaman name on the poster there is some writing--does it say a release date?

I can't say for certain, but I believe it says, "In Theaters 2010."

Assuming you means the toys shown at the left edge of the picture, you can order them from Hobbylink Japan. They aren't Gatchaman-related, though. Those are a couple of cars from the Transformers Alternity line.

Actually I meant the box of action figures that the Ken statue is kneeling behind.

Heck, I want the Ken statue! I have the perfect place for it in my new house...

That's not action figures. That's an advertising display for the biweekly Gatchaman DVD release from DeAgostoni.

You must have a big bedside table. That figure is roughly life-sized.

Then he can sit on the Sofa beside me - I would say bed but I suspect it might be a little too uncomfortable. Winknudge

I like the look of that Joe poster -I can recognize him in that image, though I'd like to see his full face, without his helmet to get a better idea of how they've made him look.

Joe's suit reminds me of the one worn in the Superman film, the return.

You can get a better look of Joe at Gatchacan, a site owned by two very dedicated Japanese Gatch fans:

Hmmm... Joe doesn't look at all like the original Joe...

Yikes! The link doesn't go directly to the page. I hope I can attach the image here. ( I've read Saturn's directions on how to attach an image. Hope it worked!!)

This Joe does not look as rugged, or maybe rough is the word I mean, he almost has the baby innocence of Ken in this image. If it was not for those colours I would say it IS Ken.

But I like it, it gives me hope.

Oooo... I do like how Joe looks, he does need to look more rugged, but I do like the sleek design..

I am wondering if they give him a sneer he would look more like our typical Joe that we know and love.

I too really do love that sleek design, as you say Shamrokchick. That is what is attracting me to him and why I keep coming back.

A direct link to that page, which has several other pictures of the Tatsunoko booth, can be found at:
