That's ep. 28 in Gatchaman. This might help clear it up!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foxiWQIQJto

The relevant scenes are near the end of this clip.
This episode was never used in BOTP -go figure!

Posted by SJ_SwanJun on 19-03-2009 at 15:35:

Awesome, thanks .... Now that I skimmed through the episode I feel so much better!

Ahhh, I know why it wouldn't have worked in BotP -- Mark would never have allowed Princess to go through that. Nope. Absolutely not.

Then again.

He let her do the flower thing ....

:GASP!: I just thought of the most AWESOME fic idea!!!!

Shit.

That video is just freaking weird. I mean, what kind of person is so obsessed with that scene as to make an AMV for it????

At least Ken, Joe and Jinpei looked upset about what she was enduring in Gatchaman episode 28 -that's something, right?

Did Mark "let" her go after the "fierce flowers" in the BOTP version? In the Gatchaman jigokillers episodes, she goes off on her own to investigate the "flowers" without anyone knowing or allowing it, except Jinpei/Keyop, though wearing Nambu/Anderson's special protective suit.

I wish I had clearer memories of the BOTP episodes...

I hope your idea becomes a fic!

Not anyone that I would want to know well...

Chief Anderson sent her out in the special suite he made for her. BUT Mark let him send her and he didn't go out of his way to keep an eye on her...

I saw that one a while back, and from the clip it was as if Dr.Nambu had lost the plot and was torturing her. So the boys tried to restrain him and in the end the Condor knocked him out... Thats how I read the 'story' while watching it. (The also used bits from the ep where they became chimps...)

Yup, Mark did let her go and seemed pretty nonchalant about the inherent dangers of the mission. Keyop was the worried one.

I may be remembering wrong as I haven't seen either episode in a while because Josh has decided that Astroboy is better than "shoopa" right now. But, I found the differences between the Eagles to be ... How do I say it? They seemed to swap personalities.

Make sense?

Of course I don't.

My lovey-dovey honey Eagle, Mark - AKA Angst-Boy - fell into blaming himself and beating himself up over his own guilt at having had to "kill" her. He turned it all on him and felt sorry for himself rather than truly hurting over Princess in peril. When she came home he was all "yeah ...groovy ... whatever" ... AND he let the guy go.

Ken, on the other hand, was the opposite. He actually felt hurt over the loss of Jun. When he got her back his fright over having thought her dead actually made him react. Yeah, he hit her. Ordinarily I would be leaping over the couch to beat him with one of my whips, but in this case I was all like .... awwwwww ... he was scared.

Mark was just "meh" gives

Ken was about as close to crushing her against him in relief as one could expect from him. And he didn't let anyone get away from that room!

At least that's how my flu-fuddles brain is remembering it right now. I might go home and try to convince Joshie to let me watch it a little better.

Ya know. I've been beating off the muse on this one for a couple of reasons: 1. I have two fics on the go right now. 2. I have such little knowledge of Gatchaman that I fear I will ballz it up somewhat spectacularly.

It is a natty little idea though... I would suggest it would make a great collab fic with a Gatch writer ... should one wish to tap me on the shoulder and offer to work with me on it...

Interesting point because I don't care for the slap either, but it this case Ken was upset over her being gone.

Despite how Ken can be sometimes by ignoring her i did like his angsty towards losing Jun in those eps to be more caring about her. (I'm not into slapping people because you're mad with em...) He didn't knock her to the floor or anything like that. Its almost like the relfec action SJ mentioned, in the process of it he realized what he was doing at the last minute. I try to think when he got her alone after wards he gave her a genuine "I was worried about you. Sorry about the slap..." Hug...

LB, you and I should have our own BOTP viewing weekend. Also anyone in the BOTP world would be invited , as far as I'm concerned.

CD where are you, babe? You're near the T-dot aren't you? I will quite happily loan eps 1-12 and the 25th anniversary DVD set to you ....

The 25th dvd set has: The Ghostly Grasshopper, the Galaxy Girls, Curse of the cuttlefish 1&2, Demons of the Desert, Orion the Wonder Dog, Fierce Flowers 1&2, Space Rock Concert, Prisoners in Space, Victims of the Hawk, Raid in Riga and Seals of Sytron. The DVD set has three quite yummy shippy scenes for the Mark/Princess shippers

I also have a mini-DVD one of the Destruction of Centre Neptune (I know that isn't the name of it) somewhere ....

I have all of the BotP DVDs that were released in North America .... I'm kind of miffed that the rest of the planet got the whole darn series, yet we up here only got about half of them

Ohh, I totally agree with you on the miffed part. I had been hoping to find the whole series but no such luck.

Yes I am in the GTA area. and would love to get eps 1-12 from you. I actually have the 25th Anniversary DVD set. I am not sure how we would be able to get the DVD to and from each other though. Unless .... When was the last time you saw Yuki?

Hi all!

Actually, only Australia and the United Kingdom got the entire run of the series on DVD. Italy got 83 of the 85 episodes, but apparently they were unable to locate the Italian audio tracks for the missing pair of episodes. France and Spain got the complete runs of their versions of the series, but neither country used all 85 episodes (59 episodes in France, 36 in Spain).

Regardless, it is annoying that Rhino didn't release the entire series here. They came close to doing a couple more box sets that would have completed the run, but a series of managment changes at Rhino killed the plans. Rhino no longer has the rights, so maybe someday someone will release the complete series here.

In the meantime, if you have access to a code-free DVD player, I'd recommend buying the Australian release. It was vastly superior to the U.K. one.

Thank you for the advice James. Some day I might just do that, even though I would not be able to watch it, just to say I have it.

Ummm, Ebony my Swannie friend ... I don't suppose YOU would have access to one of those sets James mentions. Winknudge

If she's unable to help you, you can order four of the five box sets (As well as their 2-disc "Best of"set) directly from the manufacturer, Madman Entertainment. And yes, they do ship overseas. Just search under "Battle of the Planets" on their website at:

Thank you James for the link, but do they ship to Canada?

Overseas and to Canada are two different beasts entirely, so I have discovered. (But don't worry, if I decide to go this route I am sure one of my american friends would let me use their address.)

I have the UK version along with a dvd player to play them, still I need to get a hold of an Aussie set, since they seem to have so much extra in them.

CD, I'll just come up for a visit sometime and we can have a BOTP there. Triclops
