This year, the BF and I don't actually have anything planned. I think we're still recovering from a three day visit by his younger brother and his girlfriend-of-the-moment -Oh, does that woman have problems!

Still, knowing us, as midnight approaches we'll probably head downtown, as various clubs and restaurants do a countdown and champagne toast, complete with confetti and silly hats, and that's kind of fun.

We're not doing anything major either. Fondue at home (cheese and a chocolate one for dessert) and Family Games night. Wink

I'm probably not doing anything major either. Although for the first time in a while, I won't have to work later in the evening. I think I'll bake some cookies and enjoy some of my Fermented Pear cider. Good stuff!

Happy New Years everybody!

Now there's a beverage that I have never tried -do you make it yourself?

It'll probably be wine for me tonight (with a bit of the bubbly at midnight).

I wish, I've gotten very drunk trying to though. I visit my mom in New Zealand, and over there, hard cider is very popular which I found quite tasty, especially their "Brightstone" brand. Not so much here in the US, I recently found at Trader Joe's a Fermented Pear Cider, that's just as good as their "Brightstone" brand. Never cared much for wine or beer, but this stuff's great!

Oh yeah that reminds me, I better make sure it's in the fridge so it's nice and cold. Thanks!

Never heard of pear cider... I've had apple cider though...

I'm not going out tonight either, just staying home with some drinks and watching the ball drop on tv at midnight.

There's a Trader Joe's near my place -I will look for pear cider there.

I used to drink apple cider years ago in Nova Scotia, but it was weak stuff -weaker than beer.

I think I'll be spending the evening watching episodes of The Muppet Show, working on a stitchery kit, and lowering the population of chocolate pretzels by a significant percentage. Big Grin James will be home shortly after midnight, so if I fall asleep on the couch he'll make sure I don't just lie there and drool all night. Sleep1

Happy New Year!!!

I didn't do anything to bring in the new year for the first time ever...(We didn't feel in the spirit of things this year.)

However today-New Years day we went to the local public pool for a swim with my mum DH and the kids.

(My usual thing is a BBQ at my house with friends or we go someone elses house for a party.)

Dear all

First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone, Party2 ,may all of your wishes come true in this new year and be blessed with lots of joy and prosperities in 2009.

It is nice to know that you all were spending the New Year's eve with your loved ones. My DH and I spent a quiet New Year's eve at home after Church, in front of the television watching a Japanese horror movie. No cookies, no wine and definitely no fondue nor cider (I have ever read about them, but never taste them, they are not available here at my place, really curious about them, Smile )

My DH did not last until midnight, already snored by 10 PM. I was so engrossed with the movie that I missed the New Year's countdown. Only after my cellphone didn't stop beeping with incoming text messages from my students that I realised we had crossed over to 2009, Big Grin

Dear Ebony,
May God bless you and your family with peace in this New Year.

Happy New Year everyone!

I spent my NYE on a plane, but luckily was at my destination before midnight. Otherwise, mine was low-key too. I was too exhausted from the day and travelling to do anything, so we just watched the ball go down, then I headed off to bed about 15 minutes later. Sleep2

Air travel always knocks me out too -I swear they secretly release a gaseous sedative into the air in plane cabins!

The BF and I arrived at a club in Indy at about 11.45 PM, but got in and got drinks at the bar just as the countdown was starting (with the Times Square ball showing on all the screens). They had balloons and confetti fall from the ceiling over the dance floor, and after some crazy people decided it was fun to pick up handfuls of confetti from the floor and fling it all around, and stomp on all the balloons -it's little things like that that remind you that you're getting older. I stayed at the bar.

I finally got around to doing a New Year's pic...if a tad late...

Nice picture Springie. So why are they BOTH blushing?

Or maybe their cheeks are rosy from too much dancing. Wink
